CLOSED A (Possible) DewClan Skirmish - Page 2 Empty Re: CLOSED A (Possible) DewClan Skirmish

Post by Longstorm Wed Feb 20, 2013 6:28 am

Daystar snarled at Creekheart's words. "It's water and we are DewClan! We can make it! Don't be weak, Creekheart!" The young leader grit his teeth in determination as his paws slipped on the watery mud. Daystar yowled in pain when he lost in footing and wrenched a paw to regain it. "We'll make it," he growled. Lokistar hadn't appreciated him. No one had ever believed in him, not even StarClan. But he proved them all wrong. He would keep proving everyone wrong. Daystar would be the best. This was just another test.

Coalstripe kept struggling up the impossible mud. He was a warrior of DewClan! He could make it. Daystar would lead them to a safe place.
Will he? As a rogue, Coalstripe had prided himself in being able to spot fools when he saw them. And, as much as he tried to deny it, Daystar was a fool. And I'm a fool for thinking otherwise. Coalstripe had been needlessly risking his life and the life of Tigerpaw (who was coughing up mud at the moment). Coalstripe had all but sworn to protect the tom. In following Daystar he realized he was failing in his promise.
Has it come to this, he thought despairingly, that I've turned against my leader? I've followed him this far, but... Memories of being offered a place in DewClan and becoming a warrior and receiving a new name and family raced through his mind. He wasn't that rogue anymore. I have to stay with Daystar, he thought grimly. I swore that I would die for my Clan. I will keep my vows. Daystar will see us through this. (OOC: See what I did there?) Coalstripe yowled words of encouragement to the warriors around him.

Tigerpaw spat out a mouthful of nasty mud. This sucks. I wanted to see Shadowstar and everything, but this sucks. The young tom leaped forward to get a grip on some tendril-ish plant so he could keep up with Grimclaw and the others. I hope we get there soon - and I hope I can even reach the tree! Some debris slid down the hillside not four tail-lengths away from the apprentice. Tigerpaw jutted out his jaw and continued the best he could.

"DAYSTAR!" Creekheart yelped in terror as the debris continued past Tigerpaw and swept him up. He flailed helplessly but his long pelt just clung to the sticky mud.
I'm going to die! he thought in horror before the branches jostled his body over and over.

Dewdrop looked back in shock. "CREEKHEART," she yowled, beginning to purposefully loosen her grip on the slippery hillside. Can I save him? It's a great fall - with all the debris, will I be able to reach him? We can not - will not lose warriors now, not when we need them.

OOC: Do you want Creekheart to die Loki?

Tigerpaw looked back in horror as Creekheart was swept away.

Coalstripe loosened his grip from the mud and allowed himself to begin slowly sliding down the hill. "I'M COMING FOR YOU, CREEKHEART," he yowled as he picked up speed.

Daystar was watching. "NO! IT'S TOO LATE, COALSTRIPE, LEAVE HIM!" Coalstripe looked back in shock.
The leader was adamant. "JUST LET HIM GO!"
Coalstripe sunk his claws into the hillside. "BUT DAYSTAR - "
"NO!" Daystar's eyes were blazing. "YOU WILL LISTEN TO ME!"
Coalstripe stared at his leader in shock but Daystar's wasn't bending, his face contorted in fury.
Tigerpaw could only look at Creekheart as he was pulled down the hill - where would he go? What would happen to him?
"HOLD YOUR GROUND, DEWDROP," the leader yowled to his deputy.

Not far away, Sarok the robin had found his way to the same airways that Carr had. He let out a chirp of greeting to his fellow spy as he circled the high above the DewClanners, above the dense trees.

Dewdrop looked back at Daystar. "Daystar, Creekheart could die!" She had reinforced her grip on the hillside - then had to make an insane leap to dodge more falling debris It's almost as though this hill is trying to throw us off on purpose! and barely made it to a thick clump of briar. "Daystar, please!" She would listen to Daystar, whatever he said, but she would have her say. "Please, let me save him!"

Firefoot gasped at the sight of Creekheart falling. He made to follow but was stopped by Shadowspot. Firefoot glared at the half-Clanner, but Shadowspot snarled, "We're here because we chose to stick to the Warrior Code - will you break it now?"
Firefoot stared at the black tom and eventually looked away. He had to follow Daystar's orders - even if it meant dooming a Clanmate!

OOC: I figure "new DewClan" takes the code very literally.

OOC: Don't worry, He'll be back later Wink
IC:
Creekheart was lost in the debris, whether he died or survived was quite unclear. However, with the mud unfurling from the ground and sliding downward like a snake from the earth it had already become impossibly dangerous to go back for him.

The skies crackled greedily.

In the skies, despite the rain, Carr beat his black wings against the wind. He fixed Sarok with a suspicious beady eye until the familiar breast of the robin became a calming image in his mind.
"Sarok! Sarok! Nice to see you it is. Very nice, it is!"

Post by Longstorm Sun Mar 03, 2013 3:33 am

OOC: Ah, how ominous!

IC: "Carr," the raven's name was harsh on the robin's sweet voice, "it is good to see you too!" He sang briefly, as a robin would. "I reported to Master much earlier, after we last spoke when the Tawny-cats had troubles. Master's Clan did not attack as you thought." He glanced down at the Dew-cats, the white-ringed eye facing the sky receiving cool drops of rain. "You've seen Dewy-dewys too? They've been here a time - you have had orders from Master?" He jumped from topic to topic as he would hop from worm to worm - ah, worms! How they wriggled when it rained! He had feasted well.

Daystar looked away from where Creekheart had vanished. "I will not risk the entire Clan, Dewdrop," he said. "You'll understand one day." He continued making his way towards the tree.

Coalstripe bit back a cry of dismay when Creekheart had disappeared from sight - but Tigerpaw didn't. He let out a long, fearful cry. Coalstripe looked at him and flicked him with his tail.
The apprentice shut his jaws abruptly. "We're in enemy territory," the warrior reminded him. Tigerpaw nodded somberly and said no more.

Daystar regretted losing Creekheart - he regretted losing every single member of his Clan who did not want to follow him, those who had chosen to break the Warrior Code - but his Clan had to prevail. They HAD to!
"Keep going," he yowled. "We can make it!"

OOC: Daystar's a persistant... brrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaa <--- I'm very tired Razz
IC:
Carr huffed slightly, "Master gave me orders, master usually gives Carr orders and He praised it aswell."
Yes, he liked the feeling of such an entity as Despairingcall praising him, though sometimes he couldn't remember if he had been praised or not, did it matter?

Carr suddenly remembered Sarok, well he knew he was there, he answered didn't he?
"Master tells Carr, to watch these kitties, then go see what dirty, no good Muddy cats are doing."
"Sarok should join Carr," the raven offered loosely because even sometimes Carr felt lonely. In his own shallow way.

Sarok's mind went off of delicious worms as he listened to the raven. "Ah, yes," he sang. "It would be fine to fly by-side with your for time. See the muddy-cats!" He looked back down at cats as he wheeled around and around in the air, his brown/gray wings flapping and stilling and flapping, soaring and flying. The winds had a wet bite, but the dark trees of his Master's were strong and nearby should he have needed to land.

Daystar continued on his way up. He spat out some muddy water and tried to push through some tendril-things, growling in frustration.
My Clan will never be the same, he thought. He hoped Dewdrop would continue to respect him, even in the face of this crisis.

"Gratitude, Sarok," Carr crowed back, his beady eyes fixed on the Dewclan cats, "they stuck I say, they will stay there. Master no need to worry, not while we here, right?"

In the shadows lurked again four Abbysclan cats.
Switchblade sat against a sodden log, his face lightly amused at the feat going on bellow.

OOC: Thanks.

IC: Despairingcall was sat nearby his son. His golden eyes watched the group of DewClanners keenly. Without looking at the three others with him, he meowed, "The land won't hold." There were some dead leaning trees a ways off that had been on the hill for many many years. Very few of the trees had become little more than hollowed logs, easily swept away by the loose mud. (OOC: If that's okay!) Despairingcall, his vantage point before the steep hill, could see how the log could sweep away the enemy cats seeing as only a few sharp rocks and some debris were holding the piece of dead tree in place.

Dewdrop had securely fastened herself and was looking at her Clanmates. She was deputy; it was her duty to ensure the survival of her Clanmates. She was to be Clan leader someday, anyways.
She let out a call of encouragement to her Clanmates.

Grimclaw could have snarled at Coalstripe for striking his apprentice, but now wasn't the time to argue!

OOC: YES. LET US KILL DAYSTAR. KILL HIM. KILL HIM. KILL HIM. KILL HIM.

IC: Daystar focused on his task - DewClan would succeed...but he didn't know about the impending doom beyond the dark trees and the steep, surrounding hills and the tom with golden eyes that had it in for him by the will of his ominous gods and malicious king...

Tigerpaw kept struggling, taking heart and regaining some courage under the watchful eye of Coalstripe and Dewdrop.
Coalstripe, on the other paw, was feeling more than apprehensive about the entire situation.

Hopeless was standing near Switchblade. She too could see the other-Clanners down the hill. But what Despairingcall had in mind, she did not know. And how she wish she did!

Sarok chirped in agreement with Carr. "We shall be ever-vigalant!"

CLOSED A (Possible) DewClan Skirmish - Page 2 Empty Re: CLOSED A (Possible) DewClan Skirmish

Post by Guest Thu Apr 04, 2013 1:08 am

OOC: @Runny+LS You two scare me sometimes.

IC: The Powerful grunted in agreement with his son as he watched the scene below.
Despairingcall all but glared at the mass of logs. It was times like these that he wished that he could see the future as Searingeyes could - if he could only know if the logs would truly fall, and when they would if they were going to, or if he would just have to make the entire event happen by himself. He knew that his minions were not far off (they never were), but he was loathe to call on them. Why strain himself and his feathered helpers when things could happen on their own?
But he had patience. Above knew, he had such patience, decades worth of it.
The black tom was vaguely aware, through the distant voices of other animals, of the DewClan cats that he couldn't see directly; the young apprentice that had held some favor with Shadowstar; the previously loner-based warriors; the determined deputy; the leader seemingly obsessed with the task of invading Despairingcall's home. They were all very strange to him, but he expected nothing less from the odd foresters. Throughout all of his lives the foresters had never changed. The utter opposites of AbyssClan.
Despairingcall listened to the faint voices. Again, as he had a few times in past lives, he wondered about the true limits of his intelligence.
Spoiler:
Despairingcall truly, truly wondered that if he recruited enough animals, learned enough languages, translated them into a proper written form and taught it back to those animals, if it would be possible then for him to know everything as it happened wherever it happened. Oh, that power...

A sound brought him out of his thoughts. The sound was subtle, nearly covered by the sound of rain, but it was the indistinguishable sound of something quite heavy sliding on wet earth.
It's starting. Despairingcall tensed in anticipation. (OOC: It's noticeable to the cats who are watching, not the DewClan cats because of the undergrowth and trees and shadows.)

Dewdrop, certain that her Clan was making good pace and not losing their footing, began to shuffle up the treacherous hill. She cursed as she realized that she was heading for brambles, many tail-lengths away from where everyone else was heading for the tree.
Then she realized that beyond the brambles was what looked like a path in the sharply sloped hill. "This way," she called. "This way!"

OOC: I don't want Dewdrop to die. *shrug*

OOC: Is this because she's the next leader of DewClan? Rolling Eyes
Oh, and IT HAS BEGUN!!! KILL DAYSTAR!!! KILL HIM!!!

IC: Daystar, oblivious to the chaos that was only beginning further up the hill, looked at his deputy. His eyes narrowed in a questioning way and he looked to where she was heading. From his vantage point further up he could see the path - but he couldn't reach it without some serious complications. "Follow her!" He commanded his Clan. "Follow Dewdrop! Those who can't, follow me!" (OOC: I am sensing such a strong metaphor in that sentence that it's not even funny.) Daystar was pleased with Dewdrop. He gave her an approving glance and hoped that he would be able to speak to her after they rejoined each other on the path.

Tigerpaw looked up at Coalstripe who in turn looked down at him. This apprentice isn't so short anymore, thought Coalstripe. (OOC: My family got a kitten a few months ago - he's not quite six months old yet, and his fur is still sort of kitten-soft, but it's mostly sleek now. He's grown a lot in the past few months. He's maybe a foot at the shoulder, so Tigerpaw - being older - should probably be closer to adult height now that I think about it.) "Go on, Tigerpaw," he said to him, flicking his muddy tail at Dewdrop. "You can make it!"
The apprentice hesitated then nodded. He could do this - he was closer than Coalstripe, anyways.
Tigerpaw slowly began to make his way towards the deputy of DewClan.
Coalstripe watched for a few moments and began to follow.

OOC: I just realized that I have enough 'money' to buy a power I wanted from the shop for Switchblade >: ) muhahahaha
IC:
Switchblade risked a glance at his father before bringing his amber eyes to stare back at the cats bellow. It appeared that they were splitting. The long haired she-cat, whom he supposed once had a fine white coat which was now a bit muddy was chancing her way to a path that Snarlgag took him along only a few moons ago.
He considered whether he should intercept though the chances she'd make it seemed about as dim as the others going for the tree.

OOC: Yeah... She can go back and take over so I don't have to do it Razz

Shadowspot's gaze followed Dewdrop's waving tail. He heard Daystar's command and nodded to himself. He could make it. His rather lengthy legs made it easier for him to get over there anyways.

CLOSED A (Possible) DewClan Skirmish - Page 2 Empty Re: CLOSED A (Possible) DewClan Skirmish

Post by Guest Sat Apr 06, 2013 3:50 pm

Despairingcall could see a few cats beginning to alter course - Above, Above, hear my prayer; for all I have done in your service, do not let them escape! Unknowingly, he had begun to dig his wicked claws into the soft ground. He would have given anything to see them die.

Dewdrop could have spat in frustration when she began to see how many of her Clanmates would have either great difficulty or simply couldn't reach the path she had found. But she felt a flash of happiness at the approving look from Daystar. It wasn't so bad after all, she guessed.

Grimclaw was proud of Tigerpaw for being such a trooper through all of this muck. He'll be a great warrior, he beamed in his mind. He made to follow.

MEANWHILE...

The log continued to make its excruciatingly slow journey on the slope, pressing more and more against the few restraints that kept it in place. If the weight atop it only shifted - ah. And there it was. An ominous creaking noise, then a sudden shift in the debris supporting the logs. If Despairingcall had been a younger, more excitable cat, he would have leaped for joy. He settled for directing his ears very much forward.
There was a drawn out pause, then it all went downhill from there. Literally.
Despairingcall figured that the smaller logs would be diverted from course and settled against other trees and rocks and the like, but he knew that the largest log was well on its way to crushing the DewClan cats.

Dewdrop paused in directing Clan cats her way. She heard a strange sound that was getting closer.
She turned her head and looked up the hillside - whatever it was, it was large. This didn't bode well. Something was coming and it was coming their way. Not even knowing what it was, Dewdrop yowled, "Heads up!"

Not that it mattered - the log was upon them.

OOC: Who's dying? "The log was upon them." Cool

OOC: I vote for Firefoot being severely injured. Like, having to be left behind injured. And Shadowspot should be hurt too, but I guess he's kinda getting out of the way, so he won't be hurt as much(?).

IC: Firefoot looked up in horror as the log crashed into view. He barely had a moment to yowl in terror as he was swept up by the wave of debris that came before it.

Shadowspot didn't think twice as he wildly leaped to the side. He landed in a horribly awkward manner and shrieked in pain as he slipped and fell.

OOC: The way this is going, everyone should be at least injured.

IC: Daystar looked up at the source of the crashing noises just as the shadow fell over him. He exhaled sharply just before impact. The log, on it's journey, had probably hit something had angled itself so the end crashed into him. He felt the jagged ends leave gaping wounds in his chest as he was thrown back. As soon as he'd been hit and knocked back, the log was upon him again, rolling down the hill and taking Daystar with it.

It was only moments later that it took Coalstripe as well. He was rolled over once, his chin crushed into the ground. If that didn't get him, then the (OOC: Presumed) rush of water and debris and rest of the logs did him in, sweeping him into a tree and keeping him there under the rush of debris and water.

Tigerpaw lost his footing in fright and had fallen, vanishingly swiftly. Perhaps it was pure luck, but he was swept down the hill and came to a sudden stop when the ground gave way and he found himself in a dark hole. He was gasping and trembling, his cuts big and stinging and the water and mud very, very cold.

OOC: D is for Daystar who took the wrong trail!
I'm seriously considering killing Tigerpaw. He's in a very dangerous part of the tunnels at the moment and could easily either drown or suffocate in a sudden cave-in.
But I'm still thinking about it.

Switchblade lurched forward to see the spectacle, "there goes Dewclan's great leader," he mewed in a bored fashion, "swept up with the remnants of an old tree."
He passed a sweeping glance to Despairingcall, "I think that has done it."

Carr swooped joyfully in the air, "crack, crack more kitty die! Not by my talon but by the rain from the sky!"
He was over joyed, "Sarok can have all the worms but not Carr. Carr will have fresh meat right down there, I'll eat the leader if I can find his broken body, I will!"

Charmless's eye widened at the sight. She felt exhilaration at the sight of her enemies being swept away by what had to have been - could only have been - the Will of Those Above themselves. She was awed and humbled by the sight, and she sighed because of it.

Shadowspot pitifully whined as he slowly pulled his splayed legs through the mud and underneath himself. He was slowly beginning to slide down the hill, but he waited and grabbed a rock that come up as he went down. He gently stopped and grit his teeth. He inhaled sharply and exhaled sharply, in and out, in and out. The pain he felt was great and his head was spinning and he was very, very tired. Against his better judgement, he decided to close his eyes for a little while and rest.
As he drifted off, in his near stillness and with his muddy coat he all but blended with the muddy landscape.
