CLOSED A (Possible) DewClan Skirmish

[Longstorm]

Daystar, leader and found of new DewClan, former friend to Lokistar and TawnyClan, and traitor to the other Clans, was hoping to make amends.
I'll overthrow AbyssClan in their own acropolis and in doing that, be able to rid the forest of two bits of scum.
He was leading half of his Clan - no. This is my whole Clan, now. - leading his Clan to AbyssClan territory. When they got there, they would cross the border, breaking a set law and a Clan taboo. Then they would all march through AbyssClan territory until they found the "mythical" camp of AbyssClan, kill  Shadowstar and his joke of warriors, then chase out all of the rest.
Solid plan.
I'll prove myself once and for all, he snarled mentally. Then Maplejay and the rest'll regret ever leaving my side.
The group of warriors slogged through the marshes - now bogs - until they reached the shadowy pine forest.
Behind the patrol was their own forest, then the treacherous red rock cliffs. Nowhere to go now.
"Except forward," Daystar mewed aloud.

Creekheart followed Daystar across the border willingly enough, though fear was stiff within his body.
As an apprentice horrible stories, had been installed into him by other clan members.
What had happened to this boundary rule?
The large Tom looked back to the safe marshes he considered home, was it not safer there?
He wondered whether he should turn back, tail between his legs, like a cowering dog.
His mind was screaming at him, this is crazy!
But he knew that his loyalties lay with Daystar the true leader and not some snot nosed she-cat with hopeless ideals of thinking she could better Daystar.

He carried on, alongside his leader. Despite his fear he trusted the Tom.

Carr flew fast from the distant forests of Tawneyclan before spotting the foreign dots from far above, coming closer caught tell that they were not from his master's clan.
The rough raven narrowed his ugly, beady eyes in dislike and contempt. Oh what a ruckus he would make of their... Trespassing.

[Guest]

Dewdrop, deputy to Daystar, and a she-cat still well in her prime, was not fully confident in herself in this moment. Rather, she was not fully confident in her decisions.
But which ones? I can't tell, so maybe it isn't so important. Maybe I shouldn't be worrying at all.
The deputy sighed softly as she walked amongst the other warriors.
Sure, she was somewhat intimidated by the looming forest - but Daystar was confident, and she could use his confidence in place of her own.
Couldn't she?

Meanwhile...

Not too very far away, Despairingcall was lurking in the outskirts of the territory.

OOC: I don't think he'll do anything, but I think a word from Carr may be useful...?

OOC: No one's RPing Nightowl, sooooo...

IC: Nightowl, an older warrior who probably should have become an elder by this point, was following Daystar loyally.
All the same, he paused and shivered at being so close to AbyssClan's territory. Had the rain gotten colder, or was that just him?

The same sentiment was shared by Coalstripe, a senior warrior named for his dark stripes.
Followed by his son's apprentice, Tigerpaw, Coalstripe began to wonder if bringing the young cat along was really such a great idea in the first place.

Tigerpaw, on the other hand, wasn't so scared like everyone else. In fact, being so near to AbyssClan brought back some nice memories - warm dens, kind voices, delicious food - even if those memories were slightly soured by the fact that his mother had fallen through the ice and drowned before the nice memories.
And that Bramblepaw wasn't here with him too.
Tigerpaw tried to shake away those memories like the rain, like he sort of remembered someone telling him long ago. He couldn't remember who it had been for the life of him, but thinking of the memories as rain and "you're not wet and cold forever" was somewhat comforting.
Though it wasn't like the actual rain was helping any.

OOC: Hey Switch, nice to see your online, is it okay if Switchblade is with Despairingcall? You know... Bit o' father n' son bonding, just to have him somewhere
IC:

Carr flew overhead of the group before heading over and looking to see if there were any Abyssclan cats around, though all he could see was a dark shadow in the further down the tree line.
He saw quickly that it was his master and decided to tell him of all of his findings.

Creekheart watched a large bird fly over head and shivered, he hated birds.

OOC: It'd be cool if Switchblade joined in, yeah.

IC: Despairingcall could hear in the whispers of wet birds that a cat was approaching - his son. The dark tom nodded. This was good.
The Powerful was glad that his only kit had joined him and the other Powerfuls in the Circle. It gave him a chance to get to know his on like never before, and for that he was grateful.
His son, Switchblade, had turned out to be a wise and intelligent tom, thinking on his feet and capable of pondering better truths. Despairingcall was very proud of his son, even if he rarely, if never, said it aloud to Switchblade.
Despairingcall didn't bother to slow down as he padded on. He was only out and about to listen to his birds, anyways.

Meanwhile...

Dewdrop saw the large bird and flattened her ears.
Would it make a nice meal? Or could it carry away an apprentice for lunch? I HATE birds... She snorted.

[Loki]

Switchblade had something on his mind. Since the morning brought harder weather and the clan was busy with their duties he had barely thought or had time to think about what Joy was up to.
In fact it was the she-cat who came to worry his already buzzing mind. Though he couldn't help but think about finding her that day she had been in that terrible state and the promises he told her, they seemed a little too real, he was still to young to bare a responsibility like that!
He huffed slightly.

He had the powerfuls on his side now, as far as he knew, they already knew what had happened. This settled his mind a bit and by pure coincidence his father came into his persieve and he thought to catch up. Despite never saying it out loud, he really enjoyed this strange outcome. It ment that he could innocently spend time with his dad instead of tread lightly on egg shells around the powerful because he wasn't sure whether he was just a dark reminder of what ever happened to his mother... Which was another eggshell he thought forbidden to speak about, well it never was...

He caught up, the claw-inforced stick around his neck still hanging by a strong xylem of a plant.
It was his joy, this stick because no cat could have thought to make something probably because to invent was so... Two-leg.

His father now at his side, he was stuck for words and before he could talk a flipping Raven crashed into him, cawing like mad.

"Master, Master!"Carr cried ignoring the small Tom he had flung himself into and hopping up excitedly.

[Guest]

Despairingcall stopped in his tracks and looked over his shoulder, then turned.
"Mind your flight, raven," he warned the bird calmly. "What is your message?"

[Longstorm]

Daystar, after a pause to look up at the towering pines, to listen to the sounds of flooding waters, shook his pelt and mewed, "Let's go."
The leader strode across the border.

Coalstripe froze, waiting for something bad to happen.

A few pawsteps in, Daystar stopped and looked behind him. "Are you warriors of DewClan, or aren't you?"

Coalstripe let out a breath of relief. He padded forward, his tail trembling as he crossed the border.

Tigerpaw just crossed the border. No fuss, no muss, he was a cool cat.

Dewdrop followed Daystar over the border, but she couldn't stop the shiver that ran down her spine.
"Which way," she mewed to Daystar as she caught up to him.

[Longstorm]

Daystar was staring ahead. As soon as he had broken through a mass of brambles, he sank halfway up his leg into mud and debris. He could now see the flooding and mud slides the short distance away, and just how steep and massive the hill was under the cover of the tall dark pines. It was already dark, what with the constant storming and for the smoke that had filled the air - but the trees here cast long, threatening shadows, even those with scorched trunks, surrounded by torched brush.
Dewdrop's question finally got through to him and he shook his head. "Forward. We'll...try to avoid falling debris..." He watched a branch as long as he was come to rest at the bottom of the hill with a THUD, then it sank into the mud.

Tigerpaw mewed in surprise when he sank in the mud, leaping out of it like a fish from a stream. "Ech," he hissed. "Nasty." He looked around at the shadows and pines and found that, though he was intimidated, it was much like he remembered, even if he hadn't seen much.

Coalstripe followed. "StarClan, what hell is this?"

Daystar flattened his ears. "Nothing DewClan isn't ready for," he growled, and he began to pull through the mud and towards the hill.

Dewdrop stared at the alien place, the place she had heard all sorts of stories about. She began to follow Daystar.
"I guess...the trees aren't exactly teeming with winged warriors and murderers," she mewed with a nervous laugh. "Who knows how many other things were wrong?" She was beginning to take heart, a feeling of hot invincibility rushing through her and settling in her heart.

[Runfast]

OOC: SUP.

Shadowspot and Firefoot, two young DewClan warriors who were once apart of a trio (which was sometimes a quartet) now divided by opposing views, shared nervous - Shadowspot trying to hide his emotions, Firefoot terrified - looks, then they looked to the towering pines. Though they were never really friends, they crossed the threatening border and were greeted with the same sight as the others.

Do the shadows want me now, he thought grimly, curiously. I, the half-Clanner, committed a terrible evil - convinced a medicine cat to lie, mutilated a corpse, framed another Clan..."This path can only lead to darkness," she said...if they knew... He looked at the others. I have to watch that medicine cat.
MistJAY had seemed whimsical when she had returned from the Moonfall. And yet, those jay-like cuts that would probably become disfiguring scars...had she gone insane? Could she reveal what she knew at any time?
Shadowspot leaped out of the mud to follow Daystar. Thorns and flame and someone holding those flames...was he just mad? Shadowspot didn't like thinking that maybe Jayleaf, his only friend in the entire Clan, had been spouting off useless dying thoughts. But those last words seemed important to Mistjay...is there - Dare he think it? Power? He looked at Daystar and Dewdrop, thinking of their positions of power.
The black warrior looked straight ahead. Right now, there were more pressing matters to attend to. Treachery and treason will have to wait until another day.

Firefoot wasn't even thinking about Shadowspot or anyone else, really. He was thinking about AbyssClan. Oh, how feared AbyssClan, the stories he had been told! He was all talk, speaking of how the tales were just tales, how they were all myths and maybe AbyssClan had died.
No. He'd heard a story of how the leader of AbyssClan himself, as big as a tiger and much more evil, has gobbled up a TawnyClan apprentice for setting one claw across their precious border. ONE.
The red tom shuddered at the thought. He hoped they wouldn't run into any shadow-tigers who had a taste for smaller cats.
The warrior continued walking, though in great fear.

[Loki]

OOC: I fell asleep at my computer hehe... I'll regret it later.
IC:
"Much news!" Carr hopped away from the scowling Switchblade, " Tresspassers cross borders about ten, down where the water has made the ground a marsh. Carr seeds them, Clan do dew! I see many things! Forgive Carr for not finding master sooner but long time ago, he saw gathering cats leave the lands they know and recently one followed by wolf! Carr watched him, he look chatty with wolf and he bring wolf to lowlands. Mudbloodcats also stay in Forest of the Tawneyclan cats."

switchblade didn't know what the pest was saying but he was hopping like mad and squawking something wildly. It was probably something he'd already heard before but it interested him nevertheless.

Creekheart crossed, it was just another marsh to him.

OOC: I'm having a slightly difficult time remembering exactly how much Carr has told Despairingcall about everything that's gone on in the past...

IC: Despairingcall listened intently, his tail flicking slowly at the end.
"Who," he asked Carr. "Who brought the wolf? And each and every Clan has left their lands? Even the Dark-cats? They're all gathering where they Gather? And the Dew-cats, so few? Do the rest go where they Gather?"
Waiting for the answer and not looking away from Carr, Despairingcall spoke to his son. "DewClan cats have crossed into our territory. About ten. All the other Clans seem to be going to their Gathering place, leaving their territories behind."

Meanwhile...

Dewdrop leaped in and out of the muck and mud, fearing the mudslides before them but keeping a stoic face.

[Loki]

Switch nodded despite his fathers eyes looking elsewhere.
He ran it all through his mind, what should we do?
He shunned the silly choosing squeak that advised him to attack and offered before the bird could caw any-more:
"Should I send for a patrol?"

Carr calmed from his excited hopping, looking brightly at Despairingcall before continuing.
"First question," He croaked, "who? I see him many time with that white she-kitty, who in your clan now, though back in the marsh of the Dewclan. He small, brown and striped.
To second question, I answer. All clans leave, but Tawney-cats take whole group. The old leader and four followers were slaughtered while the rest run by Mud-blood cats.
Only small group of Dark cats, about five; though the rain..."
Carr shook his head, "Yes, Carr see Dew cats split, half come over these border, other half stay at home but look like they want leave.
They gather at blood and stones."

Down by the border...
Creekheart crossed, his face contorted with worry.

[Guest]

Despairingcall heard his son's question, then considered Carr's words.
"Though that is wise, Switchblade, we cannot simply take a patrol. We must take this directly to the King," he mewed. Despairingcall turned to look at Switchblade. "Our Clan is awaiting the reinforcements from the City, therefore more caution must be excised." (OOC: I'm assuming that word will spread, and I'm guessing that this is after Paleclaw goes to the City, soooo...I am discombobulated after trick-or-treating.) "We will both return to the camp - while it is still our camp." Despairingcall felt that he should feel some regret in leaving his birth hime, but this life hadn't been too fruitful in the 'happy memory' department.
He looked back to Carr. "Anything more, raven?"

[Longstorm]

Daystar looked to the mudslides, then to the rocky patches that jutted nearly tail-lengths out of the ground, uncovered by the mudslides.
"We need to get to the rocks," he yowled over the crash of thunder.
Coalstripe looked to the rocks, his vision briefly blurred by a spray of mud and rain. There didn't seem to be any obvious way to get there. "From which direction?"

OOC: We're floundering...slightly. Something will happen, I believe. Something must...aside from DewClan being caught with their pants down, but, you know.
@Switch: Yeah, that's cool. TRICK OR TREAT.

IC: Tigerpaw saw the rocks and, despite himself, gulped.

OOC: Goodnight!

[Loki]

Switchblade nodded, He guessed that his father would know best. He looked around himself warily though, finding it hard to ever allow these rodents cross their border.

Carr cocked his head as he thought, "I can only remember so much, but this is all I have seen. Sorry, my master."
Carr ducked his large head slightly, genuinely.
"Would you want me to see over any specific terrain?"

[Guest]

Despairingcall looked back at Carr. "Watch the Dew-cats in our lands until they've been dealt with. Afterwards, watch the Mud-cats and all they do. Invite any of your kind that you need to flock. Don't take any claw-dodging risks."
The dark tom swished his tail with the last words, but waited. He wouldn't go until Carr took to the treacherous skies.

Meanwhile...

Dewdrop narrowed her eyes as she looked at the rocks. She slogged forward a few paces. After a few moments, her head snapped to the left. "There!" She pointed with her nose and drenched tail. Dewdrop was pointing to a fallen tree that was lodged in place, maybe by roots that refused to give or some other Star-blessed reason. Regardless, it was a way up, with spiny branches and not as much mud rushing past it, if any at all.

Grimclaw followed the best he could, his black paws scrambling for better holds in the slippery ground. He did his best to keep stride with his apprentice, wanting to keep him as safe as possible.

[Loki]

"Yes master!" Carr almost purred at his concern, "Carr do straight away!"
And he was up as fast as a bullet, coming high in the sky until the water vapour off of the clouds soaked his ruffles clad of feathers.
Carr's beady eyes fell on the Dewclanners stuck in the mud and chuckled coldly.
The black Raven mildly thought... well hoped, there would be a kit he could snatch up because he was hungry.
The bird then became another ominous shadow in the sky, circling the cats.

Creekheart cursed his long fur, and struggled in the mud like a lost kit.
Nevermind the tree, he though in fright, I'll be lucky to get out of this!

[Longstorm]

Daystar nodded approvingly to his deputy then yowled, "To the tree!" The Clan leader walked towards the tree.

Coalstripe looked to make sure that Tigerpaw was at his side, mewed some encouragement to the apprentice and the two followed Daystar.

Tigerpaw was glad to have the encouragement of two warriors - a senior warrior and his own mentor! - and he hoped that he could keep up with the rest of them.

[Loki]

Creekheart struggled desperately in the mud, he felt like turning back, Foxclaw was right!

[Guest]

Despairingcall turned back to his son. After a pause he mewed, "To the camp," and he took off into the wet forest.

[Loki]

Switch nodded and he quickly took off after his father. He looked behind himself for a moment before shrugging his thoughts away.

Creekheart struggled for a moment before hissing, "Daystar this is impossible!"
