CLOSED Redfall - RedSTAR Returns

[Longstorm]

Blueblossom paced along the edge of the ice shell, worried about her brother, Redfall. It had been four days and he had yet to return. Blackpaw had been staying at her side, reassuring her, telling her that it'd be okay.

The siblings Gorseclaw and Sunmist (tom and she-cat were sitting atop the tallest root of the willow-tree, watching out of the hole in the shell. No sign of them yet...

Silverkit watched the commotion, wondering when her favorite baby-sitter was going to come back.

[Guest]

Bluekit shrank back as a strong gust of wind whizzed by her muzzle. With her ears flattened back, she climbed out on the other side of Blueblossom. She gave her a mere glance and said nothing for a while, Blackpaw whispering to her on the other side. Bluekit could feel her anxiety and fear for Redfall who would soon be Redstar and Mistpaw who would be their medicene cat.
Tentatively, she sat down, pressing her bottom into the freezing snow. The wind buffetted her fur and caused her eyes to narrow down to slits but she did not want to return to the camp. She wanted to stay here with Blueblossom, Sliverkit and Blackpaw. A movement caused her ear to flicker and her body go rigid. She closed her eyes as if that would make her invisible.
"Sliverkit?" she whispered softly, so that she wouldn't frighten Blueblossom. "What do you think will happen to Darkclan and us, the Freedom Fighters? Would we ever be one clan again now that we would soon have two leaders?" She could not help voicing out her worries but she was very afraid of what the others would think of her thoughts.

[Longstorm]

OOC: Hold on; the Ice Shell Willow protects them from the wind and snow. It's below freezing 24/7 outside of the Ice Shell, so they stay in it almost all of the time, except to hunt. And Silverkit is not Silverpaw yet.

IC: Silverkit shrugged.
"I don't know," she mewed. "I don't talk to Starclan like Mistpaw does... But I hope Starclan will let Redfall get his lives!"
Blueblossom looked down at the kits and Silverkit looked up at her. It was strange for Silverkit, to be next to her biological mother after having been raised by Skyecho for the longest time, but she found herself liking Blueblossom, so it was good.

Blueblossom called to the siblings,
"Any sign of them yet?"

Gorseclaw closed the woven branch door and shook his head.
"Neither hide nor hair of them, Blueblossom."
Sunmist spat impatiently.
"Why don't they get here sooner?" Gorseclaw looked at his sister, acknowledging that she was as nervous as they were.

[Runfast]

Goldkit came up and sat next to his sister, nodding to his mother. He looked up and called,
"Are you sure they're not there?"

OOC: Meanwhile...

IC: A short ways from the Iceshell, Redstar and Mistlight pushed forward through the whipping snow and wind.
"We're close, Mistp- I mean, Mistlight!"

Even though she was cold, Mistlight laughed.
"Good, Redstar! Very good!"

Redstar looked back and began laughing too, reliving the ceremony in his head. Seven new lives. SEVEN! He was so excited - and so scared - that he thought he was going to burst!
He yelled back,
"Too bad we can't tell anyone about it!"

Mistlight shrugged.
"At least we can talk about it, Leader!"

Redstar laughed and pushed on, drawing nearer to the Iceshell.

[Longstorm]

Gorseclaw was about to mew to Goldkit that they had yet to arrive, but Sunmist tapped him on the shoulder.
"Don't you smell that," she mewed excitedly.
Gorseclaw opened the woven door and inhaled deeply. He looked down and yowled,
"THEY'RE BACK! MISTPAW AND REDFALL ARE BACK!"

Blueblossom jumped up mewing,
"Let them in! Help them up! Now, quickly!"

Sunmist complied, leaping out of the entrance and mewing her greetings to the two weary travelers.

[Guest]

Bluekit, her fur brushing Sliverkit's, could feel the excitement in her denmate. She too felt extremely excited despite her fears. Looking backwards, she saw more of the Freedom Fighters making their way over. Anticipation surged over the whole clan and she could not help feeling happy.
"Hey, we will soon be apprentices!" she meowed to Sliverkit and Goldkit, letting her hope rise up. Getting up from her seated position, she padded over to where Gorseclaw and Sunmist was. Shyly, she watched as Redfall and Mistpaw entered the Iceshell. They had a leader and a medicene cat now! They were a clan!

OOC: Could someone tell me what the Iceshell looks like? I have no idea.

[Longstorm]

OOC: It's a massive weeping willow. Sometimes it rains or sleets in the ever-frozen forest, and the rain and sleet freezes of the draping branches, forming a thick shell of ice around the entire tree. The "camp" is around the large tangled roots of the tree. The nursery is the den nearest to the middle of the tree (in the ground). Cats come and go via the tallest root from where they can reach the only hole in the ice shell, which is most times covered with a cat-made woven branch door. There's plenty of space between the roots of the tree and the shell, where cats train and share tongues.
It's a cool camp for a Rebellion.

IC: Blueblossom stood and ran to greet her brother,
"Redfall," she mewed excited, "Did it happen?"

Silverkit bounded up to her uncle,
"Did you see Starclan?" She looked at Mistpaw, "Are you a medicine cat now?"

Gorseclaw and Sunmist rubbed against the two travelers, helping to rid the cat's pelts of snow and ice.

[Meany]

Blackpaw went up to his love interest's (Blueblossom) brother, mewing,
"Are you still Redfall?" He looked at Mistpaw - he'd done some battle training with her back in Darkclan - "Are you a full healer?"

Bronzekit had overslept! He ran out of the nursery, carefully stepping over Screechkit and his littermates and he ran out to meet his uncle.
"Redfall, Redfall!" Bronzekit leaped up and collided with the red tom, purring happily.

[Runfast]

Redstar laughed as Bronzekit jumped on him, and he playfully shook off the young tom.
"Settle down, nephew," he purred. "Sister," he purred to Blueblossom. He looked around at everyone then mewed loudly, "I will tell everyone what has happened."

Mistlight looked around and nodded to Blackpaw, whispering a greeting.

Goldkit joined Silverkit and Bronzekit, watching his uncle with interest.

Redstar leaped to the top of one of the taller roots, Mistlight taking her place at the base of it.
"Darkclan Rebellion," he addressed them all. "As you all know, myself and Mistpaw went to Moonfall to receive my leader name, and Mistpaw's healer name." He paused. "We were successful."

Goldkit crowed,
"YES!"
The crowd shared his reaction and Goldkit began to shout, "Redstar, Redstar, Redstar!"

[Guest]

Jaycall, Frostshine, and Skyecho joined in,
"Redstar, Redstar, Redstar!" but Frostshine then asked,
"But what about Mistpaw?"

[Runfast]

Redstar raised his tail for silence, and it worked.
"Mistpaw has received her Healer's name, and is now Mistlight!"
The call went up again and Mistlight ducked her head for a few moments. After that, Redstar mewed,
"And now, as your leader, it is time for new names. Blackpaw," he addressed the apprentice. "Your ceremony is long overdue."

OOC: Crap, I need my siggie changed!

[Longstorm]

OOC: Already on it, binky boy.

IC: Silverkit was excited - Blackpaw was getting his name, and she would too! She knew, she just knew it!

Blueblossom watched the apprentice with pride. The two had grown close in the past few moons, and now she didn't know what she would have done without him by her side.

[Meany]

OOC: lol, binky boy.

IC: Blackpaw padded up to the front of the crowd, surprisingly nervous.

[Runfast]

Redstar smiled and mewed,
"Although Robinsong is not here, I can say without a doubt you are ready to have your Warrior name." He cleared his throat.
"I, Redstar, leader of Darkclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn." He jumped off the root and stood in front of the apprentice. "Blackpaw, do you swear to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

[Meany]

Blackpaw nodded.
"I do."

[Longstorm]

Blueblossom watched Blackpaw, wondering what his Warrior name would be.

[Runfast]

"Then by the powers of Starclan, I give you your Warrior name. Blackpaw, from this day forward you will be known as Blackfire. Starclan honors your loyalty and courage, and we welcome you as a full Warrior of Darkclan."

Mistlight called,
"Blackfire, Blackfire!"

Goldpaw joined in,
"Blackfire, Blackfire!"

[Guest]

Bluekit turned around, her attention on Blackfire was moved to something casting its shadow on the entrance of the camp. Should she go after it? Or should she alert the warriors and disrupt the meeting only to find that is was a stray mouse from its nest? Uncertainty wavering in a flickering light in her. Hesitating, she turned to Blueblossom, her mouth opening, ready to say something. Then, the shadow ran away. Insinctively, she tore away from the crowd and ran after it, careful to make sure that Sliverkit beside her did not feel the lack of the warmth of her missing presence.

OOC: I thought it was just Blackpaw becoming Blackfire, shouldn't it be Goldkit not Goldpaw?

[Longstorm]

OOC: We've been waiting a while for the ceremonies to get here. Runny is just excited.
That, and, there's apprentice ceremonies to be done... Runny?

IC: Gorseclaw, Sunmist, Blueblossom, and Silverkit called the tom's new name.
Silverkit whispered to Blueblossom,
"Will he have to sit vigil?" Blueblossom nodded and gestured for her daughter to keep quiet.
Silverkit was too excited to notice that her friend had gone off.

OOC: Remember: Bluekit won't be able to leave the camp without everyone seeing her.

[Guest]

The scent it left was strong and it smelt strongly of... cat. A wet cat to be precise. What was a lone cat doing here? Maybe its a loner. Hard on the trail of the strange cat, she followed the strong scent, it wound around the willow. Should she go back and warn the others? Or should she do this alone? Kits should not be chasing after strangers like this, but if she goes, she might not find it again.
And, the stranger might be gone. 'I'm going to be an apprentice soon! I might as well see what I can find first...' she thought to herself, protesting against everything she had been told by Blueblossom. With a sigh, she turned around and trudged back to the willow. But a heavy weight dropped from a nearby branch and crushed into her. The strange cat!
Growling, she fell limp with shock and slyness. The strange cat loosened its grip a little and Bluekit pulled free. Spinning around, she saw him. The strange cat was an underweight kit, no older then her but with strange biting blue eyes. Around those hard frozen blue pools, she could sense tiredness radiating off him. His stance was firm but exhausted. She knew she bring him back to the willow but was he going to follow?
He should she told herself. He was tired, cold, weary and wet. Shyly, she murmured, "Our camp is in here. You should take a rest." He narrowed his eyes and demanded harshly, "Who are you?" Tilting her muzzle she reported, "I'm Bluekit from the Darkclan Rebellion. Surely you've heard of us before?"
"No!" he spat. She jumped back, shocked. Just then, a familiar worried wail came from inside the camp.

Seeing Bluekit's distraction, he decided to run for it. But he did not. Bluekit glanced at him with shy worried eyes and that captured him. Perhaps he should follow her. How harmful can she be? He could fend for himself and she was trying to be... kind. He bowed his head and muttered, "I'm Ice."

Bluekit meowed, a little less nervous, "Come with me. I'm sure Blueblossom will let you stay with us." Then, an old worry formed within her, but she knew that the clan had no right to let this young kit die of cold and hunger. Hesitating for a while, she walked proudly on, keeping Ice in clear view.

OOC: I know. Bluekit is easily ignored, quite a lot actually. But Blueblossom is sure to notice.

[Longstorm]

OOC: Alright then.

IC: "Bluekit's gone," Blueblossom wailed when she realized that the named kit was nowhere to be seen.

Sunmist looked around, scenting the somewhat stale air of the Iceshell. She looked to the exit and bounded up past Redstar.
"Excuse me," she murmured as she went past. She looked out and spotted the gray she-kit - followed by another? "She's out there," Sunmist reported, "And I think she's leading a tom-kit to our camp."

Blueblossom joined Sunmist, looking out.
"I... don't recognize that kit."

[Runfast]

Redstar followed and looked out.
"Bluekit," he called sharply. "You're not an apprentice yet. Who's that tom with you?"

Mistlight stayed where she was, watching the rest of the clan in interest.

[Guest]

Bluekit ducked away from Blueblossom who tried to lick her pelt which was wet from snow. "Well..." she murmured nervously at being addressed by the Clan Leader. She glanced at Ice who had his head half-bowed from tiredness, his tail dragging in the snow, camouflaged in it. Looking back at the Clan Leader, she meowed, "Can we go inside first? Ice is very wet and cold. He needs to keep warm or he might fall sick or die."
Realizing that she had just asked a very big question when the Clan Leader himself was asking her another question, she bowed her head as embarrassment heated up her buffetted pelt. Suddenly, a thud behind her made her spin around quickly. Ice had fallen unconscious on the snowy ground, curled up against the cold.
Bluekit knew he was a proud kit however small he was. He would never have let her convince him to join the clan but it was because of tiredness and cold that he had succumbed to the temtation of a warm cozy den of her clan. And now, she was faced with the task of explaining to her leader, her foster mother and her clan why she had run away from the ceremony.
Then, a thought struck her. However embarrassed she was, she as if she just HAD to ask this question. Raising her head forlornly, she asked, "I missed my apprentice ceremony. Does that mean I won't get to be an apprentice?"

OOC: Redstar and Mistlight just came back, aren't they tired or have they became supercats?

[Runfast]

OOC: Not at all - it's a three day journey, so they rested along the way back, but it is late.

IC: Redstar thought about it then shook his head.
"No. You shall still receive your name, as will the others. But it's late, and Mistlight and myself have traveled far. We'll conclude the ceremonies at sunhigh tomorrow. Now," he looked at the newcomer, "who is this?"

Mistlight quickly padded up to the fallen kit, checking him over.
"He'll be okay," she reported. "He's just worn out."

OOC: Remember, Blueshadow, most members don't like it when you play their characters. Though, I think LS will let that one fly.

[Guest]

Bluekit explained all that had happened since she saw the shadow. Her tail was swishing about nervously at having to explain in front of Redstar and Blueblossom. Suddenly, she paused, realizing that she had not answered Redstar's question which was 'WHO was he?'.
She ducked her head shyly and admitted, "I...I... don't know who he is actually. I...I... have to ask him."

OOC: I know... Sorry Longstorm... Maybe I should have written: 'Bluekit ducked, just in case Blueblossom had any ideas about grooming her fur.' It that better or worse? Queens seem to love licking kits' fur in the series. Redstar, I think you have to name the deputy before sunset!
