CLOSED DarkClan Does the Thing and Gorseclaw Finds Them and Yay

Hours and hours later, Gorseclaw found himself deeper into DarkClan territory. Going off of markers and the like that he knew because he was a DarkClan cat, he had expected to have found DarkClan by now. They had been heading to the Bloodstones this way, hadn't they? He should be close to meeting them half-way, right? Surely he was heading the correct direction, wasn't he? Gorseclaw looked around in confusion. He'd expected them, and yet they were nowhere to be seen.
Okay...this is strange, he thought, a bewildered expression on his face.

So DarkClan found a couple of great places for bases. They were both out of the way and super hidden. Also, kinda hard to get to unless you were a DarkClan cat, so it was good all the way.
Now they were well on their way to setting up their biggest of traps. They had some few basic ones that would be helpful later (falling branches, a couple of logs ready to roll, some irritating poison plants ready to be trod on, some paths blocked off to encourage walking the wrong way, or into traps, or into kill-box paths - that sort of thing). Redstar was proud of everyone's efforts to get this all right. He still wished that Mistlight and his apprentice and everyone else was here - but he didn't have time to wish, and he had to stick to the present.
"Great work everyone," he called to those he was working with to set up the biggest trap.

IC: The falling stones trap was a difficult trap to prepare, so only the strongest cats were working on it. It was a devastating trap that could kill many cats at once, if sprung at the right time. And the cats of DarkClan hoped that it would happen at the exact right moment, taking many Mudbloods with it.
The cats of DarkClan were thrilled to be preparing for a battle this way. This, they could do. Pretty soon it would only be a matter of getting their scouts back, and then everything would fall into place. They would just have to watch and wait for the Mudbloods to stray into their territory, and then they would use a relay-running message system to get the word out that it was time to do what they had planned to do. It was all just waiting.
Also manual labor right now, but that was what it meant to be a DarkClan warrior! Moving the mountains for the survival of the Clan, if need be!
And Gorseclaw was looking for the DarkClan cats. He needed to find them soon. It was midday and he didn't know what was going on back at the Bloodstones - he only hoped that he friends weren't dead.
"Hello," he called for them. "Redstar? Sunmist? Goldpaw? Longfur, you there? Blizzardgaze? Frostshine? Lightningpelt? Anyone there? It's Gorseclaw!" He shouted these things at the top of his voice and hoped that he would be heard.

And he was! Lightningpelt, near one of the chosen bases, pricked up her ears at the sound of Gorseclaw's nearby voice. "It's Gorseclaw," exclaimed Goldpaw, who had heard too.
"Go to him," Lightningpelt urged.
"Oh, yeah," Goldpaw meowed eagerly. He shot off in the direction of his half-brother's voice.
Goldpaw shot out of hiding a couple of minutes later and skid to a halt a few tail-lengths behind Gorseclaw.
"Gorseclaw!"
The warrior spun around. "Goldpaw! Where is everyone? I thought you were all heading for the Bloodstones? Where did you just come from? Is everyone with you?"
"Redstar changed his mind," Goldpaw answered breathlessly. "We've set up - " he and Gorseclaw suddenly looked around nervously and dropped their voices, automatically heading back the way Goldpaw came at a brisk pace.
"Redstar's had us establish bases," Goldpaw said to him. "And he's out with the others setting up traps. We're gonna snipe those damned Mudbloods from our own territory and kill them all."
Gorseclaw's heart raced with excitement. "Face them from our own territory - that's - that's - " he sort of grinned.
"Yeah," Goldpaw agreed.
"I - I gotta speak to Redstar," Gorseclaw burst. "I gotta tell him what's going on at the Bloodstones - where is he?"
"Wait, what's happening at the - what about Silverpaw? Is she alright, and the other-"
"That all can wait, Goldpaw. Yake me Redstar, now. It took me hours to get here, and I don't know if the situation back there has changed - quickly now!"
Goldpaw nodded. "Okay, okay, okay, c'mon, this way!" He shot off in the direction of Redstar, Gorseclaw hot on his heels.

Goldpaw was pretty good with his sense of direction, so he and Gorseclaw found Redstar and the stone trap pretty quick. When Gorseclaw saw it, he was impressed but he pushed that aside when he set eyes on Redstar - never mind that his sister was probably somewhere nearby, or even Blizzardgaze whom he shared a mutual lust with.
"Redstar!" he called to him. "Redstar, I have news!"
The cats working with Redstar looked down and saw Gorseclaw and instantly called his name, overjoyed to see him back.
Gorseclaw loped up the incline and approached Redstar. "I've brought news," he gasped out, sitting heavily, very tired from his long, fast-paced journey up the mountainside. "And I see you got news for me too! Heh!" He coughed a little.

Redstar was glad to see Gorseclaw. "Take a breather, Gorseclaw," he told him. "When's the last time you drank some water?" He doubted it was recent. "Blizzardgaze - find some damp moss for him." The she-cat nodded, flashing a seductive glance Gorseclaw's way, and padded off.
"I'll tell you my news first," he told Gorseclaw. "Goldpaw may have told you, but I'll tell you anyway: I've changed my mind. I have a plan now. DarkClan will stay in our territory to fight the Mudbloods on our own terms. We're setting up these traps, you see? This is only one of many," he gestured to the 'stone trap.' "Though this is the only one of this kind. This just happens to be the ideal location with the ideal conditions," he joked mildly. "But, Gorseclaw," he said seriously, "The scouts are being called back. You're wiped. I'll send someone else to fetch the scouts. The sooner all of DarkClan is back here, the better. Who knows when the Mudbloods will try again? We'll be ready."
Blizzardgaze returned with some damp moss for Gorseclaw and set it in front of him. She stepped back from the conversation respectfully, but she was super glad to see Gorseclaw again. Super.
Redstar looked at Gorseclaw expectantly.

[Longstorm]

Gorseclaw nodded. "Yeah," he said, his breath back. He nodded his thanks to Blizzardgaze, tiredly returning with sexy cat-brow waggling to her seductive gaze. He got some water out of the moss and took a breath.
"The Mudbloods have advanced on the Bloodstones," he stated bluntly, forgoing his joking attitude. "They've come from the DewClan border, the TawnyClan border, and are now even gathering before the DarkClan border. The cats of DewClan and TawnyClan and even those little Clans from that small mountain have gathered inside of the Moonfall - their entire Clans, kits and all - and the Mudbloods just about have them trapped there." He exhaled. "I agree with you, Redstar," he said. "We're better off here in DarkClan territory, and I'm glad to take a stand here. Getting back to Hollowstripe and the others will be dangerous. Send two cats, at least. One to sneak past the Mudbloods and get the message to them, and one to keep watch; if the Mudbloods kill our cats before they can escape, the second one will be able to bring the message back to us. It's grim, but...Necessary." Gorseclaw took another small drink from the moss. "Last I saw, everyone was alright enough, though DewClan seems to be having some sort of internal argument - Ezziesong of TawnyClan is Ezziestar now, but she doesn't have a deputy, and Daystar is dead and Dewdrop is waiting for moonrise at the Moonfall." He coughed a bit more, winded from talking while his heart was still racing. "But everyone seems to be ready to stand together and fight to the last cat..."
The cats on the building team were listening closely, enraptured by the tale. They were sad to hear that Lokistar and Daystar were dead (or as sad as they could be for another Clan) but were more afraid for their Clanmates down at the Moonfall, surrounded by enemies.
"What now," meowed Sunmist, who had appeared when she heard that her brother was back. Gorseclaw murmured a faint greeting to her, dead tired.

Redstar nodded slowly. He was more than a little terrified for his Clanmates in the lowlands, and a little less terrified for the full Clans trapped in the Moonfall with them.
"Kits," he said. "They have their kits with them? Madness," he spat. "Pure madness." He looked at Goldpaw. "Bring me Cloudfeet." Goldpaw nodded and dashed away. He wanted to go and help his Clanmates - but he'd do whatever Redstar said, that was for certain, and he knew that someone smarter than him should go. And faster. A lot faster.
Redstar looked at Gorseclaw. "You're actions of bravery and strategy are commendable, Gorseclaw."
Shortly, Goldpaw returned with Cloudfeet.
"What's up, Redstar? Oh, hey Gorseclaw! You look like you need a nap or something," the younger warrior commented, glad to see him again.
Jaycall was listening with interest. Gorseclaw's plan was a great one - as shrew as he'd probably make it, probably.
Redstar filled in Cloudfeet on the details. "You and Sunmist will be the ones to go on this mission. Are you prepared," he asked the two of them.
Cloudfeet pulled himself up. "I'm ready, Redstar," he meowed firmly.

Sunmist nodded, a fire burning in her veins. "We'll get this done," she vowed. She lightly rested her tail on her brother's shoulder, who leaned into the touch briefly before she took her tail off of him. Sunmist had faith in Cloudfeet's abilities and knew that he would make levelheaded decisions in the field of danger.

[Runfast]

Redstar looked at them both and said "I'll let you two decide who will play what part - I have strong faith in your intelligence and prowess as warriors of DarkClan. I know you'll see this done." He paused. "I know you'll make the right decisions. Drink some water and go - take the swiftest paths you know."
Cloudfeet said some agreement.
Goldpaw and the others started calling farewells and good lucks and may StarClan light your paths.

Gorseclaw filled the two of them in one what he remembered of where the Mudbloods were in relation to the borders and the Bloodstones and how he navigated the tall grasses and stuff. They listened closely and were educated. Gorseclaw wished them both well and knew he would be praying for their's and the rest's safe return.
Sunmist said goodbye to her brother and to her Clan, and she and Cloudfeet set off at a smooth, quick pace down the mountainside.
Meanwhile, Gorseclaw was going to get familiar with the traps and camp. And also probably take a nap and eat something - everyone knew he needed it and would now proceed to mother him a bit. He protested, but it was a feeble protest anyway.

And that ends the topic. I am so tired.

The cats watched them go, concern in their hearts.
StarClan, they prayed, please let them come back.
And now Redstar had to make sure that the rest of the Clan was informed of these current events. He sent Goldpaw to spread the word, and to tell everyone to act as though the Mudbloods could attack any day now. It was all only a matter of time.
Gorseclaw was sent to one of the bases and the cats returned to put the finishing touches on the stone trap (which took a few more hours.)

There was a eerie calm in the air, the rain light and dirt soft. A storm was on it's way and it may not only be the weather.
