CLOSED Sunmist and Cloudfeet Empty CLOSED Sunmist and Cloudfeet

Post by Longstorm Tue Jun 10, 2014 1:03 am

Sunmist and Cloudfeet of DarkClan nyoomed down the mountainside towards the Bloodstones.
"When we get close," Sunmist said to Cloudfeet as they ran side-by-side, "We'll find a vantage point."
"And assess the situation," Cloudfeet called back.
"Yep!" Sunmist practically shouted. They were good.

Going downhill was simpler than going uphill; it was fast, for one thing. Of course, they had to shift speeds now and again to compensate for drops and changes in terrain to avoid injury.
They would probably be at the Bloodstones closer to nightfall. It wasn't as soon as either of them wanted, so sometimes they would cut corners (literally) and take flying leaps downwards when they probably should have gone around something, and sometimes they ran around things when they should have jumped. All of this for the sake of saving as much time as they could.
They only hoped they would get there in time - before the Mudbloods killed their Clanmates.

OOC: But basically, they can't show up until the Mudbloods are about to attack.

Note to self: add inner-thought subtext filler post later.

It was now late at night.
Sunmist and Cloudfeet of DarkClan had arrived at the edge of the the mountain trees, some 100 yards before the tall grass of the Bloodstone field began. They had found the vantage point they had wanted and were able to look out over the lower field; they could see the dark Bloodstones and knew that the Moonfall, though they could not see it, was just on the other side of them. Their Clanmates were there, surrounded by hidden danger. What the two warriors had to do was get to the Moonfall and bring their Clanmates back to DarkClan territory. But there was more than just that - they had to get past the amassing hoard Mudbloods that were coming from all sides of the territories.
"Only one of can make it," Cloudfeet spoke aloud what they were both thinking.
Sunmist nodded. "You wait here," she said to him. He nodded. "Keep hidden, don't come out for anything."
"How will I know if you're coming back?"
Sunmist paused thoughtfully, the rain running down her mud-clumped fur. "I'll bark like a fox two times, then once. You bark back, yeah?"
"Be safe," Sunmist heard him say as she bounded away into the tall grass. Cloudfeet watched he vanish into the grass and sighed softly. StarClan be with her.

Sunmist lead the warriors of DarkClan and Strikefast of TawnyClan through the tall grass. It was less of a great stealth operation and more of a miracle sent directly from StarClan that got them through the tall grass undetected; of course, instructing the cats to roll in the wet grass and mud to get rid of the stench of the Moonfall was a great help (though the kits didn't seem to appreciate the cold mud too much.)
Sunmist had kept a level head throughout the entire ordeal; they'd quietly skirted the Bloodstones entirely and made for the DewClan border instead of taking the same route Sunmist had taken before; that had turned out to be sort of a bad idea so they corrected course again and wove their way through what seemed to be spread out enemy forces; the rest of the hour that followed seemed to pass in a flash, and it appeared to Sunmist that they were suddenly back at the base of the mountain.
The warrior signaled for the cats to halt; she had told them previously that she had not come alone, that Cloudfeet was waiting for them. Now they were looking for a sign of the gray warrior in the shadows.
Sunmist barked like a fox twice then once, and waited, ears forward.
After a long moment, there was a distinct cat-like fox bark in response, coming from the distance. Sunmist was surprised; for some reason, Cloudfeet had seen fit to change locations. Suddenly Sunmist was anxious to get to Cloudfeet as quickly as possible. She signaled the cats to follow and she stealthily loped in the direction of the bark.
The other cats didn't say anything (they were operating under full silence) and followed quickly.

Cloudfeet sighed in relief when he saw Sunmist come out from under a bush a tree-length away from him. He 'rowred' softly at her to get her attention. Her head snapped up in his direction and her eyes locked onto him. From behind her, acting on a signal, appeared DarkClan's scouting patrol (or so he assumed - it was dark, anyway.)
When he and the group were together again, Cloudfeet took a mental headcount - Silverpaw, Bronzepaw, Hollowstripe, Sorestare, Mustardstorm, Sunmist, and - who the StarClan are these three? he thought when he saw Strikefast and the two kittens. He asked this.
"TawnyClan tag-alongs," was Sunmist's short answer. She looked around warily. "We can't stay here any longer."
Cloudfeet nodded. "Agreed. A group of Mudbloods passed too close to the vantage point for comfort; we'll be better off when we reconnect with Redstar."

Strikefast dipped her head at the Darkclan cats, "Tawneyclan thanks you for saving my kits. I thank you most of all."

Cloudfeet acknowledged the queen's words with a nod; the group got moving, taking short bounds up the mountainside, mindful of the cats who carried kits in their mouths.
Silverpaw was relieved to be moving away from the point of danger. The feeling that she wasn't going to live was fading and was glad for it. She looked forward to seeing her siblings again and being with the rest of the Clan.
Sunmist shared the sentiment - she was ready to be back home. She hated the constantly leaving it, especially after the rebellion. It was their home now, and now they would defend it with their lives...
The cats continued their trek.
