Shadowspot's Sad News

[Runfast]

Shadowspot, half-Clan warrior of Dewclan, made his way to the middle of the camp. "Hey," he called strongly. It was rare for him to directly draw attention to himself. "Hey!"
He looked around at the cats that were there and listened to the cats in their dens. The tom rolled his eyes and started to make his way towards Daystar's den.

Foxclaw, in his nest, rolled over in his sleepiness. "What," he croaked and kicked the air.

[Rainpelt]

Rayclaw, coming back from his hunting, looked up at the voice.

As well returning from a hunting patrol with Rainheart, Ravenswift gave his attention to the young warrior.. What's he up to? He questioned to himself, dropping his catch in the fresh kill pile.

Fern, who was comfortably near the camp entrance, followed her gaze to the sound of the warrior " what?" she mewed to herself silently, noticing it wasn't Daystar.. But can't only the leader make a clan meeting?

Daystar opened his eyes as he awoke from his nap.Shadowspot's call had made it's way into his dream, which had made an unusual result.Mice trying to get your attention while you are eating them is pretty disturbing.He shook himself fully awake, and got to his paws."Yes,Shadowspot?" he asked, annoyance obviously seen in his voice.

Shadowspot's ears flicked almost nervously as he approached the leader of his Clan. "I've terrible news," he mewed gravely. "Jayleaf is dead."

Foxclaw slowly made his way out of his nest. "What's going on," he mewed grumpily.

Fern, who was now relitivly closer to the sudden shock, turned to Foxclaw, who was slightly in behind her, " Someone by the name of 'Jayleaf' is dead.. Was he important or something?" she replied as well questioned in a curt tone.

Ravenswift raised his ears in surprise as he lowered his eyes in dispute, " but-- How? When did this happen?" he uproared in shock. He felt to himself that many questions were spilling out of his mouth.. Then he added, " I was in his care for at most a moon! And I didn't see anything peculiar with him.."

This news shook Daystar.Jayleaf was Dewclan's first medicine cat.He was one of his first followers.Rest in Starclan, friend."Jayleaf will be missed, for he was our medicine cat, but Mistpaw is gone, and there is no one to take her place as medicine cat..."Daystar did not want dewclan to end up like Tawnyclan, for their medicine cat was dead, and with no one to lick their pitiful wounds, they often went to Dewclan."Where are the Mud cats?" he asked sternly.

IC: Shadowspot looked around - where were they?

Dewdrop suddenly strode into the camp, leading a hunting patrol. She, Firefoot and Grimclaw were carrying freshkill. The pale gray deputy was looking around the camp suspiciously as she was looking out for the Mudbloodclanners - she didn't want them to get the food before the elders.
She set her bird and toad on the pile and padded up to Daystar. "Daystar," she dipped her head respectfully. "There seems to be some activity in the grassy parts between the Clans. We heard the voices of cats carry on the wind..." She looked around the camp, taking in everyone's expression. "..What's wrong?" Dewdrop looked around suspiciously - had one of her Clanmates done something?

Grimclaw set his own kills on the fresh-kill pile and caught the sad vibe of the camp instantly. He went over to Foxclaw and mewed, "What's happened?"

[Longstorm]

Firefoot went straight up to his cousin, Foxclaw, and asked, "What's going on?"

Tigerpaw came out of the apprentice's den, eyes wide.

"Jayleaf is dead," Daystar mewed.He looked to Dewdrop," Has there been a battle we haven't been reported about?" he asked. He thought to the Mud cats.

[Meany]

Brownhowl came out of the warrior's den. He'd caught the last of the conversation and murmured, "Jayleaf will be missed."
He noticed Daystar looking around and, from his place, called, "Who are you looking for, Daystar?"

OOC: Should we RP the Mudbloods if no one does?

Dewdrop shook her head, shocked by the news of their medicine cat's death. "Do you think he was murdered," she growled, fur bristling.

"We need to know how he has died,"murmured Daystar,"It is the only way to decide a proper course of action."

The news of Jayleaf dying shook Creekheart . He had been friends with him for a long time .

Riverstorm who usually showed no emotion just sat there with his head down.

Coalstripe crept into the camp, two frogs and water rat as his fresh-kill. He gently placed the food on the fresh-kill pile and looked around, feeling the tension in the air.
"What's happened," he asked Firefoot, his son.
Firefoot looked at his father and mewed, "Jayleaf's dead, Coalstripe. We think the Mudbloods killed him."

Tigerpaw, listening, gulped. His own brother, Bramblepaw, had vanished only days ago. Had the Mudbloods vanished him?

[Runfast]

Shadowspot opened his mouth to protest - Jayleaf wasn't murdered, he was sick... - but he stopped.
If Jayleaf was murdered, and didn't just succumb to a sickness, that may mean the Mudblood will leave our territory. But there's no wounds on his body!
Knowing he was no longer the center of attention, Shadowspot clawed at the ground. Could StarClan forgive him for allowing a false, evidence-less accusation run wild?
The half-clan tom bared his teeth briefly, a sign of frustration.

Entering the camp from a short herb-gathering trip, Mistpaw could sense something was wrong in the camp. Her green eyes shone in worry as she slowly walked around the edge of the camp towards the warriors.
Shadowspot noticed her and acted on pure impulse. He discreetly padded over to the silvery she-cat and stepped in her way, sitting.
The medicine cat apprentice looked confused. "What is it, Shadowspot," she mewed quietly. Her voice had deepened as she'd grown up, becoming more refined and wise sounding.
Shadowspot nodded in greeting and meowed quietly, "Mistpaw, I... need to ask something of you."
The she-cat cocked her head. "Speak."
The black warrior shook his head. "No - you need to follow me. I can't say it here."
With a confused expression, the she-cat followed the warrior to the medicine cat's den.

OOC: Looking back and reading Mistpaw's bio, she's technically Tigerpaw's sister - they have the same mother, Flowerfur.

Foxclaw lashed out at the air, claws unsheathed. "I knew those Mudbloods weren't trustworthy," he snarled. "They've taken our medicine cat!"

[Meany]

Brownhowl growled at the thought, beginning to pace the camp. "Mudblood needs to pay," he growled deeply.

[Runfast]

Mistpaw reappeared and strode up to the group of warriors, inserting herself in the crowd. "What's happened," she called somewhat fearfully.
A short while later, Shadowspot reappeared, licking a paw before joining Mistpaw. "Mudblood's killed Jayleaf," he told her.
The silvery she-cat's eyes glazed with sorrow and she crouched down, moaning with grief.

" They must have wanted all of us to be vulnerable!" Ravenswift yowled out loud, unsheathing his claws instinctively, etching them against the grassy clearing. " Why the hell should we back down to what they did to us twice now?!" He was referring to the death of Dovekit, if it wasn't for them leading that rogue into their territory, Skysoar's kit's wouldn't be scarred for life.

[Longstorm]

"Yes," snarled Tigerpaw, becoming truly angry, "and maybe my brother would still be here!" It was true, Bramblepaw had been goine for days. "They want us all weak and scared!"
"We'll never let that happen," yowled Firefoot, tearing at the ground. "Where are the Mudblood cats?!?"

[Guest]

"Everybody!" Daystar roared all at once."We mustn't go too loud. If we clearly rebel,the Mud cats will eliminate us without second thought.They will murder everyone here without even blinking an eye,down to even Gentlekit. We must do this in secret.We shall all express our ideas. But we need a plan that will not result in the destruction of this clan." He paused to take a breath."Dewdrop, I need you to take a group of four cats to go down to the fires.We must find out what has happened to our fellow clans.Back here, we will decide who will take the medicine cat roll."

OOC: *raises paw* Hello? I'm Mistpaw, medicine cat apprentice?

IC: Foxclaw clawed the ground. "Can I go," he called. "I haven't been beyond our hunting grounds in - forever, thanks to those Mudcats."
Mistpaw's thoughts turned back to her dead mentor in the medicine cat's den. She wondered what the body looked like now, after Shadowspot had done what he did. And I let him do it.
Mistpaw knew she had to be one of the firsts to see Jayfeather.

Dewdrop dipped her head to Daystar. "Yes, Daystar." She looked to the crowd of warriors, hearing Foxclaw's request. "Yes, fine, Foxclaw." She looked for cats who hadn't been on patrol or hunting recently. "Shadowspot, Clifftail, Ravenswift! You're coming with me to the far borders."

Grimclaw's tail flicked in annoyance. Quite frankly, a journey to the far edges of their territory sounded interesting after all this time of keeping things close to home. But Dewdrop had seniority, sadly enough, so he said nothing.

Ravenswift sheathed his claws slowly and nodded, his amber eyes still glaring with annoyance of the Mudbloods revealing schemes.
