Redstar padded out of his den, looking around at his cats, heading to the gray rock.

Longflight quickly padded up to him and murmured,
"Redstar, I have a request... and bad news."

Redstar looked at the honorable warrior - He might make a good deputy...
"Yes, Longflight?"

Longflight dipped his head and said,
"Silverfur is dead... I think he slipped away sometime in the previous night."

The news... This news... This was horrible!
"That's... I'm sorry to hear that... He'll be added to the others..." Redstar looked down. "He walks with Starclan."

Longflight nodded.
"Yes... And I suppose I'll be burying them all."

Redstar looked up at the old warrior.
"You don't mean..."

The pale warrior nodded.
"Yeah... I'm too old for these tricks. I need," he sighed, "to rest."

Redstar studied the gray-faced warrior and finally nodded.
"Alright, then," he sighed. "I'll announce everything - the deaths, your ceremony, the Gathering - now."
He jumped up atop the Gray Rock and called,
"Let all cats who are old enough to catch their own prey gather here, at Gray Rock, for a Clan meeting."

Goldpaw looked away from the apprentices then back to them, mewing,
"It's a Clan meeting! Come on." He padded over to the Gray Rock.

Blizzardgaze stayed where she was, watching.

Goldpaw laughed but shut up when he saw Longflight's look.

Redstar looked down at his cats (OOC: Darn the rest of you for not being here, lols) and mewed,
"Darkclan has had a rough few seasons. But now that those cannibals have been removed, and Thornstar at peace, Darkclan can begin to rebuild. Many of you are being introduced for the first time, even though you've shared a Clan for many moons." He meant the apprentices mainly.
"We've lost dear friends," he looked to the bodies in the shade, "But with the forming of new bonds, I know Darkclan will become the greatest Clan in all the territory."
"Tonight, we shall attend the Gathering: But first, a ceremony."
He looked down at the pale tom.
"Longflight, is it your wish to give up the name of a warrior and go to join the elders?"

Longflight mewed,
"It is.

Redstar nodded. "Your Clan honors you and all the service you have given to us. I call upon StarClan to give you many moons of rest."

"Redstar," Longflight called suddenly before any cat could call his name. "Forgive me, but I must make a request."

Redstar nodded.

"When I was young and strong, I was best known for the great leaps I could make, hence my name." He chuckled, "But now that name no longer stands for me. I ask that my name be changed to something more... accurate."

"Hmm," Redstar mewed. He looked over his cats then back to Longflight. "Spirits of StarClan, you know every cat by name. I ask you now to take away the name from the cat you see before you, for it no longer stands for what he is. By my authority as Clan leader, and with the approval of our warrior ancestors, I give this cat a new name. From this moment on Longflight will be known as Longfur, for he has expressed the desire for a more... 'accurate' name - as he is an honorable tom, I can only comply."

Goldpaw stood and called,
"Longfur, Longfur," since his mother... Skyecho... Had told him about these kinds of ceremonies.

IC: Flowerpaw hissed, "Don't be so rude!" She curled her tail over her paws. That's why Hollowpaw's so much better a friend than FlawKIT!

Hollowpaw looked at Flawpaw then back at Flowerpaw " don't blame him, I didn't see him in the battle myself. There's a chance that he wasn't there when it happened" she mewed in calmly.

Silverpaw, who'd come out of the apprentice's den, glared at Limitpaw.
"These 'people' - your Clanmates - died in battle that took place here only yesterday!"

Gorseclaw looked down at the apprentice, after calling out his friend's name and mewed,
"Where were you yesterday?"

Sunmist looked back at the unfamiliar apprentice and called,
"Yes - why weren't you in the battle?"

Flowerpaw felt the dark, evil side of her mind take over. "It's because he was SCARED!" she yowled. "He doesn't have a SINGLE bit of loyalty for his clanmates, so he RAN AWAY while everyone else's blood was shed!" After some thought, Flowerpaw added, "At least Hollowpaw joined in the battle in the end!"

Hollowpaw was shocked of what Flowerpaw said " that's mouse brained Flowerpaw and you know that! I only came to the battle because your bird warned me. I'm just saying maybe he wasn't informed when he was out hunting." she meowed in protest, fur bristling ever so slightly.

Redstar's ears flattened at the sound of the apprentices arguing.
"QUIET," he snarled. "Silverpaw, Limitpaw, Flowerpaw: I guarantee, none of you will be attending the Gathering." He looked at the others and mewed, "Cloudfeet, Sunmist, Lightningpelt, Hollowpaw, Bronzepaw, Longfur - you'll be coming to the Gathering... You three," he looked at the three apprentices who wouldn't be coming, "I'll decide whether or not you have enough concentration for your apprenticeship when I return."

Harsh? Perhaps, but Redstar was refusing to take any crap at the moment. He was on edge.
Redstar jumped off the Gray Rock and mewed,
"That's all. We leave soon."

Shock and fury coursed in a flood through Flowerpaw's veins. She began to curse, curse LimitKIT and redstar, in her mind, imagining thoughts much too sick to describe: imagining them burn, curl and screech, dying in the most morbid way possible.
She shook her head. Where had all these horrible thoughts come from? What was happening to her? She didn't want any of that. Maybe to Limitpaw, but never to Redstar.

Longfur's ears pricked up in surprise. He padded up to Redstar - the tom Longfur knew had captured his far younger ex-mate's attraction before her death - and mewed,
"Redstar... Do you really believe I should come with you? The way we parted and all..."

Redstar looked at the elder in surprise,
"Longfur, haven't you realized? There's no room for hate, or the rememberence of past wrongs. Darkclan needs unity to survive... Besides," a faint glimmer of relaxation was his stance, "I forgave you long ago, mentor."

A smile slowly graced the elder's face and he nodded, defeated in some way.
"Alright, then." He sighed heavily, thoughts returning to the bodies.

Redstar seemed to be thinking the same thing.
"We'll tend to that task after the Gathering," he mewed softly. "They would understand, I know that for a fact."

Longfur nodded mutely, watching Frostshine put lavender and honey blossoms on his sister's fur.

Hollowpaw felt slight pity for Flowerpaw and Flawpaw trace through her veins, but she thought twice about there fighting. in some cases, they deserved it. but she was happy that Redstar broke the conflict, if he didn't claws and cursing would be involved.
she then padded back to her oak tree, jumped onto the closest branch and watched the others separate into there daily routine.

"Why don't you ask HIM what he's done!" She didn't want to, with Hollowpaw, but Flowerpaw's patience had snapped again. She had a very short fuse. It was just how she was born. "If you want to be angel with him, you can call me whatever you want! I HAVE FREE WILL!"
Flowerpaw knew that she meant none of these words, but rage had overpowered her sense. She looked guiltily down at her paws and murmured, "I'm sorry."

Hollowpaw shrugged and stood up " then someday we could find that bird that helped you and ask him a few questions" she mewed. " I know Darkclan's trees like the back of my paw, if we just find him away from the camp, our questions will be answered." Hollowpaw did have many questions about this clan, how many know of it, when did it start, are there other stars they follow? Many leaped through her head.
