Slipping Away

Wake up.

Scorchpoint jerked out of his slumber. He'd been sleeping for the past two sun shifts, but it felt like nothing. But there was something far more important than sleep. Yes, something far, far more important. He stood and shook himself, like he was shaking the sleep from his pelt. He slid out of the camp and was face-to-face with Searingeyes.
Scorchpoint dipped his head quickly, a guilty look on his face.

Searingeyes's whiskers twitched. His mouth didn't move but he did say,
"Walk two hundred paces that way," he pointed, "And follow the scent of wet earth. There, you will find a tunnel. Go into it. Follow the scent of dust and dried berries. Watch yourself, youngling."

The wind whipped and Scorchpoint had to shut his eyes. When he opened them, the tom was gone. Did that mean... No... But it had to be! Searingeyes was allowing Scorchpoint to go! What's more, he had told him how to reach the first part of his journey! Taking heart, Scorchpoint praised Those Above and Those Below, and followed the directions he had been given.

Just missing him, Shadowstar padded out of the camp. He could have sworn that one of his Warriors had left this way, but there was no sight nor scent of him... Hmmm... Shadowstar returned to the camp.
