In a great, twisted tree, there were hundreds of birds. They were all silent, and they all seemed to be looking at something.
In the shadows were two gold points of light.

OOC: Ignore my last porst shall I post here? I'll delete this if not.
Switch was not too far from the twisted tree. The crows frightened
him a little... Their beedy eyes took in everything.

[Guest]

Not just crows... All types of birds. Their feathers made an eerie sound as they looked at him.
The crows, ravens, and hawks glared at Switch, lowering their heads in a threatening way.
"GRRORACK!" All of the bird took flight, flying just over Switch's head and away.

Despairingcall came out of his spot, walking up behind Switch.
"Hello, Switch," he mewed in his own, soft voice.

[Loki]

Switch ,nearly leaping out of his fur, spun around. The birds chattering in a mocking sort of way. Switch dipped his head to his father. "Powerful." He mewed, "Its been a weird day, It sounds stupid."

Despairingcall looked a his son, studied him, then said,
"Follow me." He calmly went to the twisted tree and went up it's close-together, wide branches.
He sat on one of the mid-branches, and waited.

[Loki]

Switch jumped onto the first branch with ease the second was further away. He leaped and landed on it fine. The rest were easy and he joined his daddy on the mid branch.

Despairingcall's expression relaxed around the eyes mainly and he mewed,
"So tell me... about your 'stupid day,' as you put it."

[Loki]

Switch looked down. "How likely is a badger to suddenly fall through a set that hadn't bee mentioned before? And How likely is a rabbit to break a leg at a normal pace? But Most important. How Likely is it that a trained cat who is a winner in battle fall before the last blow?" His ears were flat back as if he was expecting his father to burst out laughing, "That happens all the time." Switch closed his eyes waiting for the humiliating laughter.

Despairingcall cocked his head slightly and thought for a moment.
"Not... very. Who was it?" He knew about the kill. "News travels fast."

[Loki]

"Darkcloud of Tawnyclan. She had scared of a prey I was stalking and I accused her of doing it purposely, So she mocked my self and my size." He looked a little sheepish, "And then she mocked the powerfuls... specifically you, So I challenged her through satisfaction, I got her twice then got cocky so she caught my flank and was a mouse nose away from my throat when she slid back and landed on my twig... I mean you would have had to be there. The ground where she fell was not slippy. I never noticed a twig that sharp either..." Relief burnt his coat that he was not yet humiliated.
"It seems to happen. Whenever I am about too lose something or get severely injured at the last second something like that happens."

Despairingcall thought about this - it'd been so long since he'd had a kit to look after, a son to teach and to love.
"Haaaah," he sighed. "It only seems natural, Switch. I was going to wait until later to tell you: Fortune follows Powerfuls and their direct kin." He looked to the stars. "It is a blessing, you know. Given specifically by Those Above, ratified by the King, Scourge."

[Loki]

Switch looked at his father slightly confused...

Despairingcall sensed his son's confusion.
"What I mean is this: it is a bit harder for us to die, then other cats." He looked at him. "This is very important, Switch. Though you may ignore it, always know that Scourge watches. Know that, even today, he speaks to us - through the most unexpected signs." Despairingcall shifted ever so slightly, staring down an owl that decided to land nearby - "Flee," he said to it in the Silent Language of the Owls.
When it had flown off he continued,
"I believe the death of this she-cat is a sign of something to come... Of what, though, I am not certain."

[Loki]

"I can't be... Its not possable." Switch didn't know how to think, If he was a powerful what power did he posses. Ounce more was the she cats a sign.
"The she-cat nearly won... but at the last second lost...It could be what Joy was..."
He stopped and if he could have would have cuffed himself as much as possible. You told
her you would keep it secret! He looked up at his father to see if he had heard.

[Guest]

"The Servant? Yes, I know of her. And of your thoughts of her." He leaned in towards his son and whispered, "It helps to have a friend who knows all thoughts." Despairingcall shrugged. "The end is unknown, for her." He turned fully to face his son. "Every word I have spoken to you here, and what I will say here. Do you understand that?"

[Loki]

"Yes I understand. I beleive There is something wrong with that... Servant. You won't punish her will you, She... She had a dream I guess. The way it goes she gets a lot of them. She thinks that Bone himself told her he is going to train her for the day of red sun. And that prophecy she spoke of. Blood is blood as shadows run red,A Vow is death, when death is led. Does she really see into the future or has all thats happened gone to her head?" Switch felt a stab of betrayal hit him.

[Guest]

Despairingcall shook his head.
"No. It is our belief that she has some role to play, whether it be great or small." Despairingcall looked around, noting the birds in the far trees, those who shouldn't be awake at this hour.
"To continue a further point," he turned back to him, "you're not exactly a Powerful. You're called an Ember Of. The reason for that is-" a sudden flurry of wings caused him to turn suddenly, the fur on his neck rising.
"BRREchinkCRAACHnokroo-THANORRAN!" These foreign words came from the mouth of Desparingcall as he snaked down the tree and took chase of a large dingy gray bird.

[Loki]

Switch stood and wandered if he should help his father catch the bird. It began to fly a little higher and he hissed at it... The birds behind him cackled and cawed as he stood looking down...

[Guest]

Despairingcall climbed up into another tree, this one much taller, taking to leaping from branch to branch, snarling more strange words it's direction. As the chase continued, Despairingcall jumped and snagged the bird's legs, the two falling out of the tall tree.
They landed with a sickening THUD.

[Loki]

OOC:OH NO!

Switch gasped and his claws unsheafed at the sound he heard, even though he was about four elk bounds away. "Father!" He uttered, and Disregarding the height of the tree he was currently in, leaped down and landed with his tail high he came to the roots of the tree. He pelted towards Despairingcall, panic sickening him.

[Guest]

The black tom was still, his legs splayed out.
Despairingcall twitched slightly, then his eyes opened, the glow returning.
"Ah..." He stood, shaking the snow from his pelt. He nodded to Switch and mewed, "I'm fine. But I can't say the same for her." He looked down at the gray bird that had broken his fall. Despairingcall looked behind Switch and his eyes widened. "DOWN!" He grabbed his son with his claws and yanked him down, just as hundreds of birds flew overhead.

[Loki]

Before Switch was pushed down he mewed relieved, "For a moment there I
thought I was going to have to carry you home, That wouldn't have done good for my
back," Behind him the birds flew and he was pulled down. "Whats going on?" He mewed
quietly.

[Guest]

Despairingcall had his teeth bared at the torrent of birds, and he yowled above the racket,
"Something's got them spooked! They haven't acted this way since the Death of Scourge!" He laid his ears flat, minding them since they were nearly clawed by a hawk that flew by. "We must leave this place." He began to crawl away, gesturing for Switch to follow.

[Loki]

Switch flattened his ears and followed. He looked back and saw their panic.
"Will they not tell you?" He mewed ducking a talons swooping over his head.

IC: Despairingcall stood as the birds dispersed. He sighed and looked at his son.
"No. They aren't. There are some things birds never tell... I think they know something. Something is going to happen. Something that all others know... but us."
