CLOSED Dusk - and a Funeral Empty CLOSED Dusk - and a Funeral

Post by Longstorm Sun Oct 25, 2015 5:45 am

Redstar and his patrol had arrived back at the DarkClan camp a few hours past. Now the sun was sinking down, down, past the view of their mountain home.
It was a somber time. The time for Mustardstorm's funeral was coming...

OOC: so short, but TBC.

OOC: I'm going to keep this short-ish maybe?

IC: Redstar had addressed the Clan about Mustardstorm's death, how it had appeared to be an accident, how it was tragic and he had gone too soon.
Concerning what Flowerfoot had told him, he said that there was the belief that there may be an intruder on their territory. Redstar did not directly state that this intruder may have been involved in Mustardstorm's death.

Now the cats who had known Mustardstorm best, like Flowerfoot and Hollowstripe, and other, were huddled next to his body. They would be there until the morning.

The others who did not know the warrior so well would leave them to their vigil.

OOC: the inspiration bunny finally struck.

The sun finished sinking into the distant horizon, and all of the warm colors in the clearing seemed to sink away with it, bathed in silvery, cold moonlight instead. The moonlight kissed Mustardstorm's pale yellow fur a ghostly grey, and the flowers and herbs that adorned his body turned a milky silver.
The cats in the vigil lay quietly, only their breathing adding to the sounds of the soft winds of the night. On the backdrop of the stones of the clearing, they were dark shadows even as the stones caught gently reflected the moonlight. They were as shades in a pale, ghostly world, lost and out of place, as would be living creatures in a land where only spirits could tread.
Perhaps the night truly was the time to bid a friend's spirit farewell. Perhaps it it was more a truth than a tradition.
But truth or not, the cats in their vigil put all of their hearts and souls into all of the things they wished to say to their friend, all of the good and the bad, the regrets and the joys they had shared, the plans and the accomplishments - and, of course, all of the well-wishes they could give, in the hopes that their friend would have a swift and safe journey to the home of their ancestors.
It was an ending. It was a beginning. It was something different to each and every cat. In the end, though, it all returned to one final thought: Goodbye, my dear friend.

The night carried on, stars wheeling overhead as the moon made its journey across the skies.

Blueblossom was sitting guard for the night. She sat atop a rock, eyes wide and ears perked forward as she watched and listened for any signs of intruders on the rolling slopes of the territory beyond their camp.
She didn't know yet what to think of Flowerfoot's claims of Mustardstorm fearing some unknown trespasser. The idea of a malicious character roaming their lands worried her - and it angered her too. She hated the uncertainty. It was a change she did not welcome. She could feel that this could only be the beginning of something else for DarkClan. What it was though, good or bad, she could not say...

OOC: Closing? Maybe?
