Re: CLOSED The Survivors of a Catastrophe
OOC: Heeeeey Loki! Good to hear from you again! I hope you're not feeling too poorly - I'm rooting for you and getting better.
IC: Dewdrop frowned, her eyes sparking with anger. "Creekheart," she meowed coolly, "I followed Daystar and the Warrior Code. Those who stayed behind broke the Warrior Code. I will never apologize for that, not to you, and definitely never to Maplejay. Yes, I agree - this was a terrible idea. I didn't want to do it this way, but I couldn't turn my back on Daystar. As for Daystar, I-" she paused, emotion suddenly welling out of the carefully compartmentalized sections of her heart. Dewdrop took a moment of silence to control her emotions. She meowed in same tones as before, though tinged with grief, "I saw Daystar die." She paused once more; when she spoke again the grief was gone, "I am Clan leader now. It is now my duty to go to the Moonfall to receive my nine lives from StarClan, then appoint a new deputy."
She looked from Grayfall to Creekheart. "MudbloodClan does not yet know that we have backed out of the agreement Daystar formed with them. Perhaps returning to DewClan camp, at least for the time being, would be best. But," she meowed firmly, "I must receive my nine lives. If everyone we find is capable, I would be glad if you could all escort me to the Bloodstones. I don't think that TawnyClan or DarkClan, if present, would be pleased to see me."
OOC: Spicing it up is fun!

Creekheart opened his mouth to protest but shrugged, "I suppose you're right. Either way I came too. What if Dewclan... I mean the other half of our clan chase our sorry hides out of Dewclan?"
He gestured for them to move along impatiently with his tail, "anyway, maybe Starclan can offer you their wisdom."

Re: CLOSED The Survivors of a Catastrophe
Dewdrop considered what they could do if the other part of DewClan were to chase them away from their own territory. What then? Those cats would no longer be their Clanmates - in Dewdrop's mind, Maplejay's band would no longer be members of DewClan if they denied her, the new leader, her position. Then it would become a matter of Dewdrop reclaiming territory which was rightfully hers.
Dewdrop had many dark ideas on how to do such a thing, though she hoped she wouldn't have to - but for now she would complete first things first. No need to rush.
"To turn us away is to turn their backs on DewClan for good...but yes, Creekheart, I will be looking to StarClan for guidance... Perhaps Daystar will be there." She waved her tail sharply, glancing at their surroundings. "We've lingered too long. Creekheart, are you alright to walk?" The gray deputy looked around again, wary of the shadowy, strong-scented pines and twisting, nature-littered paths that could be hiding anything.

Re: CLOSED The Survivors of a Catastrophe
Maplejay and the others wouldn't possibly turn their backs on us...right? Grayfall thought, frowning. They couldn't do that. They wouldn't do that. Dewclan would be gone, destroying the warrior code and the clans' way of life. Daystar's life would mean nothing. His hard work and devotion into creating his clan would be in vain. Grayfall's sister's life would mean nothing.I'm not going to sit and let Dewclan implode on itself.

Re: CLOSED The Survivors of a Catastrophe
OOC: Stepping in to RP Loki's cat - and my own DewClan cat, Duskpaw, Birdhop's apprentice!
Note: I actually adopted her and decided I wanted her to follow Birdhop with Daystar.
IC: Creekheart nodded shortly. Yes, he could walk, though with some aches and pains.
Meanwhile...
Off in the distance, drawing ever-nearer, the frightening flock of birds wheeled in the sky. It was gradually spreading itself thinner and thinner, to the point where it no longer looked like a swarming cloud, but just random birds flying around.
They were spreading their search-pattern.
_________
Not too far away, Duskpaw, a young she-cat apprentice of DewClan, was walking along shakily, quietly whimpering every so many steps. She was a very new apprentice, small and frightened.
Where was her mentor? Where was Tigerpaw? Was there anyone out there who could help her?
Duskpaw mewed aloud - no words, just a kit-call that she instantly felt embarrassed by, and frightened, because what if someone had heard her? What if? What if?
Duskpaw didn't want to die.

Creekheart turned and scanned the area around him, "lead on then Dewdrop."
Re: CLOSED The Survivors of a Catastrophe
Grayfall kept quiet and kept his thoughts of keeping his clan alive to himself.

Re: CLOSED The Survivors of a Catastrophe
Dewdrop nodded and padded past Creekheart, heading a little deeper into AbyssClan territory, though not going up the hill. There lay monsters.
She cocked an ear suddenly. Had she just heard...? No way - it was too coincidental, wasn't it? She'd just found the one, had they just found another so soon?
A blessing from StarClan! The thought sent a thrill through her, warming her heart and her paws.
She gestured for the toms to follow quietly, and she stealthily and quickly made her way towards the source of the cry...
OOC: Duskpaw is nearby?

OOC: I know I am! (oh, god, I'm not a creeper...usually... )
IC: Maybe 10 minutes away higher up the hill, Shadowspot was limping badly through the nasty-nastyness of AbyssClan territory, across the hill. He didn't know where his Clanmates were, but he had a feeling that a few of them were dead. He wondered where his friends, Grimclaw and Firefoot, were, and if they were alive.
Shadowspot's thoughts suddenly went back to Mistjay and Jayleaf... StarClan above, he thought with emotion he had trouble identifying.
He kept walking, covered in mud, legs burning, keeping silent and trying to get the heck out of AbyssClan.

Re: CLOSED The Survivors of a Catastrophe
Creekheart lifted his head and drew in the scents of the air as they trod by. "It's hard to tell but I think there is another close by..."
Re: CLOSED The Survivors of a Catastrophe
Dewdrop flicked her tail in agreement, pausing to listen closely. She inhaled deeply, trying to smell past the thick, wet pine-scent. You'd think I'd have learned by now that this place is anti-DewClan in every way, she thought grimly as she gave up scenting. She continued walking, minding odd mud that hid brambles and plants so unlike DewClan's marshes.
Dewdrop wanted to call out but for fear of being discovered. She stalked through the dense undergrowth and kept listening, hoping that whomever had called might call again - or else how would they find them?

Re: CLOSED The Survivors of a Catastrophe
Shadowspot stopped and sighed softly as he looked across the broad, steep hill, wondering if he should continue on his present course or instead begin the long walk down the side of the hill towards DewClan territory.
The black tom sighed again. He wondered what AbyssClan cats were like - then realized that he really didn't want to find out.
Even I know that AbyssClan kills all cats who cross their borders without permission... Shadowspot shivered where he stood, the mud and muck hugging his paws and clinging to his slick fur.
He looked to the sky - the angle of where he stood allowed him to see it - and noticed a few birds against the dark gray clouds. Shadowspot squinted past the rain at the birds. What am I doing. They're just stupid birds. He shook his head and decided standing still for a few moments longer in the cool mud couldn't hurt.

Re: CLOSED The Survivors of a Catastrophe
Duskpaw's lower lip trembled as she slowly picked her way down the steep hillside. She was hating every second she was still in AbyssClan territory. Sure, she'd liked the idea of beating AbyssClan (something no other Clan had ever done!), but she'd never thought trees could tumble the way these had - this place was nothing like her home, and she hated, hated, hated it!
The she-cat kept walking, afraid that more trees would fall, that she'd never find her way back, and that an AbyssClan cat might find her first.

Dewdrop padded further and further into AbyssClan territory, doing her best to keep her tail from bristling for any reason aside from tension and fear.

"Dewdrop?" asked Grayfall quietly, hoping not to be heard by any Abyssclan cats that may or may not be nearby,"Do you think we should split up?"He felt the way they were all together was dangerous and if they were split up they could find more surviving Dewclanners.

Re: CLOSED The Survivors of a Catastrophe
Creekheart didn't really want to split up but he supposed that would be for Dewdrop to decide.
He scented around but was finding it tough, there was so mush mud and wetness in the air it was hard to make out anything.

Re: CLOSED The Survivors of a Catastrophe
Dewdrop shook her head. "No, Grayfall. We are a small patrol looking for few cats in a territory we don't know. Better to keep the number we have." She fell silent again, pausing with her ears pricked up, eyes wide. Which direction had the sound come from? The deputy looked up the flora-littered hill. Well, I don't like it, but... Dewdrop flicked her tail to indicate change in direction, and she made her way towards the hill.

Re: CLOSED The Survivors of a Catastrophe
Grayfall frowned slightly, but nodded and stared at the ground. It was probably a stupid idea anyway, he thought. It didnt matter if it was a good idea or not; Dewdrop said no, so they weren't going through with it.

Re: CLOSED The Survivors of a Catastrophe
Duskpaw almost stumbled down the hill when she hit a slick patch of mud - you know, the deceptive sort that looks real smooth then reveals that it's evil and very slippery and you flip forward and get very muddy - this is what happened. She nearly pitched forward on her face, just caught herself, but still slipped down a ways. Duskpaw was so terrified that she couldn't make a sound, and was immensely relieved when she stopped, tangled in a spindly bush. Her heart beat wildly against her chest, fluttering like a trapped bird.
She breathed in and out, in and out, in and out. Okay. Okay. Okay. I can do this. I can do this...? Duskpaw gulped and slowly extricated herself out of the bush and made her way down through the mud.

Re: CLOSED The Survivors of a Catastrophe
Grayfall checked the foreign landscape around him for any sign of being followed. Again, nothing. Grayfall hated this territory. The grim landscape, the lack of prey, the smell, and the overwhelming sense of dread and despair greatly disturbed him. But what really disturbed him was that he hadn't scented anything he could distinguish as Abyssclan. The name Abyss was appropriate, for he felt like he was gazing into one.It dark and mysterious, and the deeper he,Dewdrop, and Creekheart went in, the feeling the feeling they weren't getting out grew heavier.

Re: CLOSED The Survivors of a Catastrophe
Dewdrop shared Grayfall's sentiments even if she didn't know what they were. She wanted so much to find all of her Clanmates and escape AbyssClan territory, then somehow turn everything that had happened on its head and have DewClan come out on top.
Probably wasn't going to happen, and she hated to dream anything that was unlikely, so she shoved it out of her head.
Can't scent, don't know what's around the next turn, poor weather; StarClan enjoys their omens, don't they, she thought wryly.
Dewdrop began to make her way up the treacherous-seeming hill...

Re: CLOSED The Survivors of a Catastrophe
Shadowspot looked down the hill again and decided - I'll head down. Away from... whatever might be further up the hill. Maybe AbyssClan camp was that-a-ways, or maybe AbyssClan Warriors, or just more falling logs? I'll have to watch out for that, Shadowspot reminded himself. I won't die as Daystar did... poor Daystar. The black tom sighed in his head and limped carefully down the hillside, rain falling quickly, clouds dark, and the dark pine forest and thick brush pressing in from all sides of him.

Re: CLOSED The Survivors of a Catastrophe
Time seemed to stand still in the unchanging dark and damp, but Dewdrop knew that it had to be passing. (OOC: Time skip!) She and her warriors had traveled up the sodden AbyssClan hills for what seemed like ages, scenting and searching for their missing Clanmates, trying to remember the paths they had started on, but most was a considerable blur to them all. Dewdrop counted, in her mind, who all was still missing - Frostfire, a strong she-cat; Duskpaw and Tigerpaw, young and promising apprentices; Grimclaw, a brave warrior, and Tigerpaw's mentor; Firefoot, that fleet-footed young warrior; and Shadowspot, the warrior who seemed as though he felt he had something to prove; and Coalstripe, Firefoot's father. (OOC: Am I missing anyone?) All of them brave, loyal Clanmates, Clanmates she wanted at her side when she became leader. Clanmates I need to find...
The gray deputy paused and inhaled deeply, suddenly noticing something different. Something young, something - DewClan.
The deputy signaled the warriors with her. Dewdrop slunk forward silently, her paws almost floating over the ground.
Duskpaw?
OOC: That's open-ended. I literally just listed four cats I called "young." Any one of them can jump in. Even cats outside of the "young" designation could be there! Anything!

Re: CLOSED The Survivors of a Catastrophe
Creekheart looked around himself, there was mud, mud and trees. Broken trees. He was sure that landslide was not a warning from Starclan now, would they do such a terrible thing? Or maybe they were being punished for being wrong... didn't evil cats sometimes fall into some horrible demise even if they thought what they did was right.
What if Abbysclan were the good cats and he was the one in the wrong?
His whiskers twitched a little, forgetting the search as he mused.
After a few moments of walking he shook his head, "I must have hit my head," he groans after a pause.
OOC: don't i talk a load of drivel?

Re: CLOSED The Survivors of a Catastrophe
Shadowspot's ears pricked up. Something was different. He crouched, despite his injured legs, and waited, eyes wide. He knew that the muck in his fur, and the fact that he was naturally a dark cat, would give him at least some cover...
