CLOSED hunting

Cloudfeet was padding along with Sunmist and Rainfoot. They were going to hunt.
Cloudfeet's ears swiveled this way and that, trying to hear the soft shuffle-scrabble of tiny paws hidden in the pine needles and gnarled roots beneath the numerous pine trees.
He glanced back at Sunmist and Rainfoot and nodded to them. He was glad to be hunting in a group like this again.
Though he sometimes wondered if the Clan would ever be the same after it had broken in half. He felt as though there was something right between certain cats, and himself, even when they were together. I hope we can all trust each other again.
Cloudfeet's gray ears pricked up. He heard something. He dropped into the hunter's crouch and began to slink away from his Clanmates...

[Longstorm]

Sunmist watched Cloudfeet as he began to slink off. She absentmindedly glanced back in the direction that the Clan was heading down the mountainside. Again her thoughts went to Redstar, but they went away as she looked back at Rainfoot.
The rain was persistent as ever. She was glad of her thick coat.

Rainfoot quickly grew bored of watching the other warrior stalk off in the few seconds it had been. Without making a sound, the gray warrior turned and padded off in a different direction, seeking his own prey.

[Longstorm]

Sunmist had the faintly embarrassing realization of suddenly being left alone. She looked from side to side a little nervously and shook her head. She slunk off in a different direction, wanting to catch something quickly. Then maybe I can convince the boys to hunt together.

[Meany]

Cloudfeet was a different cat when he got down to business. He had a focused expression on his face, his eyes narrowed and his ears as forward as they went.
He could scent rabbit's blood - something was hunting in DarkClan territory!
Cloudfeet bared his teeth and inhaled deeply: stoat! The warrior knew the drill; weasels of every sort were dangerous and couldn't be faced alone unless you'd proven that you could take a on fully grown one by bringing back its body.
We'll teach thing thing to hunt in our territory, he thought fiercely.

Cloudfeet, as low to the ground as he could go, slowly, and very very smoothly, slunk back to where he'd lastleft his Clanmates. He stood up straight and looked around when he saw that they had left. He sniffed the ground and decided to follow Sunmist first so they could fight the stoat together.
Cloudfeet followed Sunmist's scent trail.

Rainfoot sniffed the air to try and catch a whiff of prey. Not smelling anything more than faint traces, he pressed a bit deeper into the pine forest.

[Longstorm]

Sunmist was stalking along, keeping as quiet as she could since she knew there was prey nearby. Bird no doubt. She walked a few silent, slow-mo paces then stopped, just staring at her prey. Then she walked a few more ninja slow-mo steps then stopped, her amber eyes wide and round.
Sunmist crouched lower to the ground, bunched her legs underneath and - POUNCED!
She successfully snagged the bird as it panicked and attempted to take flight. She neatly snapped its neck in her jaws and huffed in satisfaction.
StarClan, thank you for this bird's life...
After her prayer of thanks, the orange, white, and yellow she-cat pulled up some of the long, yellow grass and slid the fresh-kill underneath it so she could retrieve it later. She proceeded to continue stalking in case more prey was nearby...

[Longstorm]

Sunmist stopped short when she realized she could smell Rainfoot. She rolled her eyes and turned around, heading back the way she came. "Rainfoot," she called softly," the wind is at your back! You're upwind!" Now everything could smell Rainfoot and not a single bit of prey would want to be here.
The she-cat stood before the warrior. "What?"

[Guest]

Rainfoot padded along a few steps more when the wet wind changed direction - ah, bird. The tom quietly changed course and lightly stalked towards the bird-scent.

[Meany]

Cloudfeet looked at the she-cat in surprise, having not expected her to show up so quickly. Regardless, he was very excited. "A stoat, Sunmist. It's killed rabbits." He flicked his tail in its direction, his eyes just as focused and his expression steady, still a very different cat when he was working.

[Longstorm]

Sunmist's eyes widened in surprise. "Where?" Her voice had lowered somewhat, her tail quivering with excitement. "Show me." We should probably get Rainfoot, too, she thought off-handedly.

[Meany]

Cloudfeet nodded and went right on into saying, "We should find Rainfoot. Three's better than two when it comes to stoats," he said, practically quoting what he learned during his apprenticeship.
