CLOSED A Powerful's Prayer

[Longstorm]

Below the camp in warm, sandy tunnels were the three Powerfuls. Their den was lit up with bioluminescent plants and strange, minor holes here and there that reflected madly off of shiny stones. Easy to see by, and it was comforting to come out of the darkness.
Though the other two were asleep, Searingeyes was wide awake, sitting, head bowed in prayer, ears laid back in respect.
He sat in front of a beautiful shrine, adorned with small, smooth fragments of the Moon Chamber Stone signifying the defeat of the forest, and small, cold, shiny two-leg vines, signifying Abyssclan's everlasting ties to the City.
A vast mural was on the wall in front of him, nearly as great as the murals in the Chamber of the Moon - the battle of the Forest, the clan leaders and key cats obvious, four great oaks towering over it all. And there, atop the strange large stone, a shadowed tom with glowing pale blue eyes.

Searingeyes's golden eyes were hidden by his pale lids, his lips moving silently as he continued his prayer, the barest of whispers echoing gently through the vast tunnels.

Despairingcall found himself in an endless field of pale tall grass. The sky was a light gray, clouded and sad. The wind blew soundless through the grass, the stalks bending in the wind, waving like the currents in a river. In front of him stood a ragged gray bird with an impossibly thin neck, it's black eyes staring into his golden ones. In a flash, the bird took off in a flurry of feathers, leaving him all alone in the tall grass. Shrugging, he stood and began padding through the never-ending field, all alone.
A time later, a gentle whisper broke through the odd silence. Despairingcall sighed and turned around, padding into a tunnel in a side of a massive hill that wasn't there before.

Despairingcall's eyes opened at the sound of Searingeye's prayer. He looked over at his life-long friend, lifting his chin off of his paws to look at him. The physically older tom stood and slowly made his way over to him.
Silently,he sat next to the dark brown tom, bowing his own head and laying back his ears, eyes closing. After a time of silence, he murmured,
"You pray too loudly."

[Longstorm]

Eyes still closed, Searingeyes smiled slightly.
"Maybe you pray too quietly. Or.. just not often enough?" Searingeyes's mind was calm, peaceful, the soothing voices of his ancestors echoing in his heart. He breathed in deeply, the familiar scents of his home calming him even further, his thoughts on those who had passed gaining depth.

The edge of Despairingcall's mouth quirked up, amused.
"Perhaps," he murmured. "But then, isn't prayer simply pleading to the unknown?" He was referring to his ability to speak to other animals, not to speaking to the Creator of all cats. He knew his friend's answer - they'd spoken about this ten thousand times before. He fell silent for a time then murmured, "You should be asleep. Why aren't you?"

[Longstorm]

Searingeyes sighed deeply.
"I can't." He reflected on all the missed nights of sleep... how many was it again? It'd been so long... The constant murmur of voices, the thoughts of the living, constantly plagued his thoughts in the night when he meant to sleep. That why he stayed awake, praying to the 'night-owls' of the Realms. If he was lucky, someone would answer and give him a prophecy.
Eyes still shut, he moved his head slightly - if his eyes were open, he'd be looking sideways at Despairingcall.

Despairingcall looked at his friend, worry flickering across his features, his ears pricking forward.
"How long has it been?" Despairingcall knew that Searingeyes could go into a trance that rested his body, not his ever-loud mind, but of Searingeyes wasn't even doing that then that meant...

[Longstorm]

Searingeyes sighed deeply.
"You don't have to be concerned, friend. It's nothing to worry about." Searingeyes went to silence his mind again but the thoughts of the cat sitting next to him whirled at the edges of his mind's eye - he couldn't understand them, of course, but they were still there.

[Runfast]

Soulvoider, having long-since been awake, silently padded up to Despairingcall. He too had a concerned expression but he gestured for Despairingcall to let their friend be since it was obvious he needed some time alone.

[Longstorm]

Searingeyes evened his breathing again, thoughts drifting to Those Above even while his body was tensed.
