CLOSED The Remainders

[Runfast]

Otterpool, medicine cat of MoonClan, was tending to some cats . Talltree and Raypaw, a new mentor and apprentice duo, and Snowfeather and Blackfire, two of the warrior cats from the 'other clans'.
Talltree hissed in pain as Otterpool removed another long thorn from his left shoulder.
"I knew we should never have left," he was snarling. "Look what's happened - what we've lost."
Otterpool tugged another thorn from the warrior's shoulder. "We don't know if anyone has died," she mewed quietly, dipping her paw in a poultice she'd scrounged up. "What happened was just bad luck."
Talltree looked at the medicine cat almost accusingly. "'Bad luck?'" He spat. "It was the fault of the strangers we even traveled the way we did! It was the fault of the strangers we are in this stinking, dangerous place!" Talltree was cut short when Otterpool yanked a thorn from his shoulder.
She gently set down the thorn and murmured, "What happened, happened. There is no changing it. No point in pointing claws. Think of those around you." Her pale brown tail flicked to the young apprentice huddled in the corner.
Talltree grudging fell silent.

Snowfeather flicked her ears at the MoonClan warrior's comments. They were doing the right thing by trying to lead MoonClan to their home, she knew it.
Blackfire, on the other paw, hated the brown warrior's voice altogether. He'd been saying nothing but down things all evening and Blackfire just wanted to sleep.
"Can't he be quiet," he murmured half to Snowfeather, half to himself.
The white she-cat quietly snorted in agreement. She looked over at Otterpool, a she-cat she'd had immediate respect for, and mewed, "Will we be heading out in the morning?" In this situation, Otterpool had a lot of authority.

[Runfast]

The medicine cat glanced over at the white she-cat and nodded briefly.
Talltree snorted at the other cats and turned his head pointedly.

Raypaw, meanwhile, was trying to sleep. But it was hard! Her head was too full of the faces of her clanmates, her mother, her father, her sister - the wall of white! She squeaked in fear as her eyes flew open, chest heaving.
She knew she wouldn't be getting very much sleep tonight.

Otterpool glanced back at the small apprentice. "If only I could find some poppy seeds," she murmured mostly to herself.

The Next Day...

When Blackfire next opened his eyes, the mid-day sun was shining brightly. Sun-high... If I were home, I'd be going to meet the patrol.
The black warrior's heart was stabbed with longing and worry. What has become of my fellow rebels? Have we succeeded or not? What must they think of me, taking an ill-gotten quest?

Snowfeather, having been awake for some, was padding around the strange room they were in, sniffing around. There was a strange, almost muffled scent that she'd never smelled before. It was sharp but smooth, and it didn't smell all that appetizing.
It'd be easier if I could find the source for it, she griped in her head. She stopped in her mind-rant when she saw that Blackfire had woken up, and she padded over to him. No, she wasn't all that friendly with him still, but she'd been thinking.
"This quest won't end well."
Blackfire looked surprised. "Well, good morning Optimism," he mewed sharply, wishing he hadn't woken up.
Snowfeather's serious expression didn't change. "Just think," she sat before him. "We only understand some of the prophecy. There was an avalanche. We've lost cats. And now we're here, holed away in some StarClan-lacking place with cats we're not even certain we can trust. Whatever was meant to happen on this quest...didn't. So, this quest will end badly."
Blackfire looked over at the MoonClan cats, hoping they weren't hearing this. "Snowfeather," he hissed, rising from his make-shift nest. "You can't just be spewing your marsh-mud opinions, not in a place or situation like this-"
"Oh, don't treat me like some two-bit apprentice, Blackfire," she spat in return. "If you won't think it, then I will. This was always your problem, hiding from the bleak truth - it's why it took so long for us to reach these barren lands, and it's why we questers don't even trust you." She shook her head. "Telling me to keep my opinions to myself," she muttered, turning away from him. "Fool."

Blackfire watched the white she-cat pad away, his own pelt bristling with fury. But even with his anger, there was still a tag of worry nagging at the back of his mind in the aftermath of her words.
Was he really avoiding the truth? Would they never get home?

Snowfeather, teeth clenched, squeezed out of the hole in the two-leg structure and out into the cold sunshine.
"Forest fool," she spat. "Above and Below, give me strength - don't let me kill the damned fool." The BloodClan spy ferociously smacked a bit of two-leg rubbish, sending it flying.
It was when she heard a shocked yowl that she snapped out of her thoughts.

Cloudscar looked at Snowfeather, still in mid-duck, eyes wide.
With him, though, were many; Himself, Barkfur, Sinewpaw, Joy, Leafheart, Whitelight, Beampaw, and, importantly, Stormstar.
"You're all alive," she gasped, her tail bristling and smoothing multiple times.

Stormstar didn't seem to mind the she-cat's shock. "It is as it is, Snowfeather," he murmured. He strode past the shocked warrior and into the two-leg structure, like he'd been there before. His pace was slow, almost a shuffle, but he held his small head up with pride.

Barkfur's whiskers twitched slightly at Cloudscar's run in with the bit of rubbish. She paused when she saw the familiar she-cat and took a moment to accept that shock was hitting her like the avalanche that had brought them here.
"Sky-moon - Stormstar, you've saved us." Barkfur's shock was washed away by the searing feel of guilt.
Why had she ever doubted her leader, even if it was for a little while and a little bit? Why?
"Are others here," she asked the white she-cat.

[Longstorm]

Leafheart wearily looked up at the strange structure. This one was definitely near the top of strange structures he'd seen all day, what with it's strange, shiny features and weird patterns and shapes.
"Is there a place to rest," he tried to speak strongly but his paws were numb.
Beampaw was practically asleep on her paws, trying to keep her eyes open.

[Meany]

OOC: I'm just finishing this.

IC: Snowfeather nodded, the shock numbing a bit. "Yes - just in there. There's a place to rest, and other cats from your Clan are there, too."
Cloudscar nodded thankfully and the rest of the group filed into the strange structure.

Snowfeather looked up at the skies, murmuring a 'thank you' to Those Above before going back into the structure with the others.
