The Wanderings of Feathertail WIP
A soft pain stricken yowl echoed through the underbrush, the blackbird she had been stalking fluttered away in a chaotic rush of feathers and avian curses as it flew away. But the Maine Coone gave it no mind, for she had stepped on a painful thorn that pierced her paw deeply. She felt the callused flesh around it throb as it swelled up around the obtrusive object. Her feather like tail lashed the ground, stirring the mulching leaves beneath her paws. Having never encountered such an experience, she stood their on three legs with an almost comical expression of bewilderment. She looked around for a safe place to find shelter. She found a low hanging snowberry bush that still held on stubbornly to most of its leaves. Her gait became hobbled as she struggled her way to her temporary safe haven. settling down, she stretched out both forepaws in front of her and examined her wound.
'There's no way I'm going to catch any prey now.' She thought to herself. She grinded her teeth together anxiously as she gripped her teeth onto the thorn. Taking a deep breath to scrap up the courage to pull it out. And then she pulled.
A bird scattering yowl broke the serene air. Internally Feathertail was surprised that a cat of her size could produce such an enormous volume of noise. She spat out half the thorn while shaking away the tears that had formed in her cerulean blue gaze. Examining it further she cautiously put wait on it and hissed on an intake of breath. She had accidentally broken off the thorn. And the other half was now in her paw. She whimpered to herself as she began to realize that if anything came after her, she was defenseless. Not one to feel sorry for herself she started to brainstorm on what to do next. But self-pity won out over
her thoughts and she began to cry and moan, not just because of the thorn, but from all her heartache that she had kept bottled inside. She no longer cared who heard her now.
OOC: Ok, so I realize this was a SPF. But this should be someone's cue from Roseclan to save my poor Feathertail.(: Por favor?

Leafstar was in the camp when she heard a blood-chilling scream. Motioning to the two kits to stay put, she tore off through the forest, twisting, ducking, and weaving through the trees. She began to smell another cat, a she-cat, and from the noise she was making, in a lot of pain. Skidding to a stop in front of her, Leafstar examined the she-cat fully, from her serene blue eyes, washed out with tears, to her bleeding pad. "Thorn?" She asked, looking closer.

Despite her smallness, she seemed to make herself grow even smaller in the other cat's presence, her ears pulled back and her eyes grew huge. She had never encountered a forest cat before, although she had always wanted to. And the speech she had prepared flew right out the coop.
It was ten whole seconds before Feathertail could collect her thoughts once more and shove her fear deep within herself. Finally able to respond to the she-cat she managed to stutter out, "I-I... yes. There's still half of it in there. A-a-and I'm unable to walk." She hung her head, ashamed that her fear had rendered unable to speak coherently. She looked at Leafstar with upturned eyes. Trusting her to help her instead of hinder.
OOC: Psshhh. Modest much?

((No. Honest.))
Leafstar smiled, and mewed, "Let me see it."
((THis is truly pathetic. I somehow put a lot of meaning into few words.))

Warily she extended her injured paw and replied. "My n-name is Feathertail by the way." Good naturedly she wiggled her tail to show what she meant and gave her a shy smile.

Nightkit had been trying to make out what the leader and the other cat were saying. "I wonder what's up," she murmured.
Re: The Wanderings of Feathertail WIP
The she-cat's soft gaze landed upon the kit that stood a ways away. Her eyes lit up and a tender smile stretched her maw. With as much grace she could muster she hobbled over to the kit and dropped her head so their eyes were level. "Hello little one. I am Feathertail." A soft purr emanated from her cream chest. She skirted her tail around to cover her feet and twitched it slightly so the fluff tickled Nightkit's nose.

Nightkit immediately felt at ease with the she-cat. Nightkit let a purr escape from her throat as she breathed in Feathertail's scent.
Re: The Wanderings of Feathertail WIP
She blinked warmly once before sitting up fully and asking the young kit, "Where is your mother little one?" Absently she wondered if the cat behind her, the one who had found her was the kit's mother.

Nightkit's happy face fell. "No," she whispered, "I don't know who my real mother is." And hung her head.
Re: The Wanderings of Feathertail WIP
She flicked her tail under Nightkit's chin, so she would look up at her. Soothingly she replied, "Do not fret child, for I am sure many love you as their own."

Nightkit's eyes flickered with emotion as Feathertail spoke words of comfort to her.
Re: The Wanderings of Feathertail WIP
I'm right here.
Leafstar purred as the she-cat comforted the kit. Grasping the thorn part that was sticking out firmly, she gave it a quick, firm tug.

From practically above the acknowledging rogue, Pillarkit glanced warily at the thorn. Those aching things really did do more injury then they looked.
As silently as she could, she sprang off the short branched she perched on and landed next to Leafstar, " Who's she? And why does she smell like a Raspberry?" She consulted, her fuzzy tail only slightly bristling to the sight of the known trespasser.

Re: The Wanderings of Feathertail WIP
Feathertail grunted gratefully as she felt the thorn give a final retaliation before sliding and out and giving her some relief. She took a few moments to collect herself until the pain faded to a steady throb. Testing it on the ground and wincing slightly as it was tender. But managed to walk a few steps. Turning around to face the small kit and mewed, "Well dear, my name is Feathertail and I come from a place of twolegs, so maybe that's why I smell like a raspberry." She looked up warmly at the she-cat who had taken out the thorn. "Thank you so much. How may I repay you?"

Nightkit chirped, "Leafstar is the leader; the top position of RoseClan." Then she couldn't help adding, "And now I am an apprentice!" Her smoky-black chest puffed out in pride.
Re: The Wanderings of Feathertail WIP
Leafstar smiled. "You need not repay me. I just ask you come back with me to get that cleaned up."

Nightkit had fully gotten back her usual joyful attitude, and danced around the cats as they headed back to camp.
Re: The Wanderings of Feathertail WIP
Spirekit padded softly behind, giving unsure glances to Feathertail. The first cat she'd seen not joined with the clan. Is this how it always feels to see another that isn't a clan mate; Unsteady and untrusting?

Nightkit bounced up to Spirekit. "Why are you looking so--" she couldn't find the word to describe the other kit's facial expression.

" I guess it's what warriors call.. Um.. Unsettled. It's just that cat, I don't trust her. She seems like trouble" she softly mewed, being sure her voice didn't trail over to Feathertail.

Re: The Wanderings of Feathertail WIP
The she-cat's eyes grew wide, she wondered internally what she had done to deserve such kindness, her smoke and tawny tail swished happily, she dipped her head gratefully and mewed in her soft gentle voice, "If you insist. But I'd hate to impose..." She said the last part mostly to herself as she padded after Leafstar. She paused after several several strides and looked back at the kits, she was already fond of them. She was fond of all kits. She believed that every new life should not be brought up without a mother to guide and to nurture them, her intense motherly instinct was most likely due to the fact that as a kit, she had been the one chosen out of the litter to be abandoned. For her mother could not support such an unusually large litter of kits. Although she harbored no ill will towards her. These thoughts flitted by in course of seconds before she called back to the kits who were lagging behind, "Come young ones, it is getting dark and I'm sure there is a warm nest waiting for you two when we get back." She mewed, naive to their suspicious mutterings of the possibility that she had ulterior motives.
